This is a forwarded message From: .... valentine53179 <valentine53179@hotmail.com> let's say you are looking for "wild bill" in between the years of 1840 and 1850 but don’t want to go about looking at the query results for 1840 and then 1841 and then 1842 etcetcetc... here is how... enter in exactly "wild bill" +"numrange:1840..1850" should be "wild bill" +"1840..1850" or "wild bill" +1840..1850 yes there are TWO...not THREE..dots! and yes, there are quotes around each of the query components... that is because I don’t want to see all the entries that have wild and I don’t want to see all the entries that have bill I WANT to see the entries that have WILD BILL continguous to each other and so I Quote them.... I don’t use ' I use " now, I will say that people on the list will put in wild +bill +1840 and they say they are happy with the results... but if you are going to do that then wild bill 1840 is just as good and so save yourself the trouble of the + because google now ASSUMES the + a few words about the placement of the + if you enter it as wild + bill with spaces between, you are accomplishing nothing... you must place the +directly next to the qualifier that you have following it to work... so look at what I have noted in the first entries and see the placement... when making a statement you mist consider the space as important as a symbol or character.... I would very much like to see people tell us exactly what they used in their query when they have said that they tried to find something and did not feel that they were successful... copy and paste EXACTLY what you used and let others on the list see and we can help you with a better structure.. creating a query is no different in importance than asking about how to print a web page or which adaware version etcetctc that we talk about... and if you get critical comments about those types of posts from other listers, then dismiss them... the object is to learn... and if you do not understand what someone is stating, then it behooves you and others to ask for clarification...
