I had one of the original ones that plug into a computer that was on a dedicated computer. When that computer went bad, I ordered the new Magic Jack Plus that only uses the computer to register it and then it connects into a power supply, the phone, and a LAN cable. They both work very well, but the newer one is a lot cheaper on the electrical power to use. Bruce -- Registered Linux user number 482434. 3. Thnx, Bruce, I wasn't aware of the 'new' version. So you still need internet service, you just plug it into your computer for a minute to register, and then directly into your router? Is that what the LAN cable is? What do you mean about the new one being cheaper to use? Because you can turn off your computer, since the old one wouldn't work if your computer was turned off?? We don't turn ours off very often, maybe we should. sorry for so many questions :) melissa On Sun, Nov 6, 2011 at 9:36 PM, Bruce Kemp <wb7ooe@wbcable.net> wrote >> > There are now 2 verities of Magic Jack devices.
