    3. Illya Thanks for this information. I couldn't figure out what was "sensitive" -- but since the primary purpose of publishing the SSDI is to provide "time-sensitive" information to prevent fraudulent use of SSNs, this makes sense. But, I'm curious -- why would the gov't "remove" names from the SSDI? The SSDI database on Ancestry (as well as others, like GenealogyBank) are updated monthly (GenealogyBank is actually updated weekly), thus, if the Government removes names from the SSDI, the versions on these sites will be in compliance with the new rules. - illya Illya J. 3. Pat I have asked that question on this list and other lists but no one ever came back with an answer. I think Tom Kemp did one time say that names already there would not be removed. I could be wrong but I remember someone saying that. Once again I would say at least have a membership at either or both Ancestry and Genealogy; that way you can use their SSDI records. I am not saying a paid subscription just a membership. I am unsure how many sites I have a signin ability but not a subscription. 2. I was looking in the SSDI today and on this particular name, they gave the state from which the SSN was issued and the "Before year". Weird. ellen > Illya > > Thanks for this information. I couldn't figure out what was "sensitive" --> the new rules. > > - illya > > > >
