    3. Viola, The router provide the wireless capability between your internet connection and your computer. The router is connected to your internet connection, usually a modem. Some cable/internet companies can provide a modem with wireless capability, usually called an "advanced modem", and at a higher monthly cost than a standard modem, which is what my internet/cable provider offers. In fact, this company would not let me use my aadvanced modem, because it want to control the security for the internet connection. My sister had the opposite experience and was told that if she wanted wireless capability, she had to provide the wireless router to connect between the company's internet modem and her computer. You could ask your company if there is the option of them providing an "advanced modem." You could also weigh the additional monthly cost against the one-time cost of buying a wireless modem.
