Hi Woody. I use ccleaner regularly and today I have 11 cookies there but how do I know which ones I would need. I use Firefox on Gmail and the cookies show opposite Internet Explorer. I just viewed summary results and one example is: C:\Documents and Settings\User.USER-745\Cookies\*00EBICBA*.txt 1KB there are 10 like this one just the highlighted numbers change. The last one after -745\Local Settings\Application Date\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\DOMStore\88VRQQ2R\toolbar.avg{1}.xml Perhaps the last one is the only one I need to keep?? Yes/No Joyce > > > Might be that cleaning out the internet temp files and cookies will help. > But lots of cookies are beneficial. At the bottom of an email from nomorerack is this statement: "You are subscribed to this mailing list as xxxxxxxxxxx@aol.com <cthenricks@aol.com>. Woody, Apparently that is what or tried to do to me because I saw the beginning of the message which said that I was receiving their email because I had joined their site which I hadn't. The spam email which was sent to me at the same thing had the same sentence at the beginning but I knew I had never requested to be a member their site. Now I think I should try to get my email address away from them. I saw them on facebook but never clicked on them, just passed them by because I had no interest in them. Thanks for sending this email address. I think members should not be so quick to judge Kathleen. The email is obviously spam, and appears to have come directly from the nomorack website. Which usually indicates that the email address used has an account there. The email appears to be from the nomorack website. Which made me curious. This is not like a normal hacking. I checked at nomorack and suzyqfl@gmail.com IS a registered user. That can only be done by someone who has direct access to the original email account used for the registration. Suzy, assuming that you had no knowledge of this, you now have two security issues... 1. Your email account is now well hacked. Your password needs securing. 2. There IS an account in your name at nomorack, using your email address. This needs removing, else the account can be used to send out more spam.
I want to thank all of you wonderful people who responded to my email for help with nomorerack. I have learned a lot corresponding with all of you and appreciate all of your emails filled with ways to solve the problem. I have gotten rid of the nomorerack page which was on my spam folder and the on my Drafts folder. Janet
Woody, Thanks for the explanation. I had seen the same picture on facebook but never touched it. I know what you are saying about shopping for an item on the internet. I had the same experience. I almost hate to mention this for fear the page will return but nomorerack is no longer on my computer. I did a complete scan from Norton yesterday and it was still on my computer last night but today it is gone. I use CCleaner also but do not know how to separate which cookies I want to keep and those I want to delete so I just run it to delete all cookies and have never had a problem with doing that. I also run Internet Options to scan my computer almost every day and Norton is continuing scanning my computer whenever I am working on my computer and does a short scan every day. So I was really surprised to see nomorerack on my computer. Really concerned me since I know how tight my security is. If one has shopped surfed somewhere online for an item, lots of those sites will inject related advertising into your Facebook, Google, and other pages based on cookies lthey've placed on your computer. I recall surfing to find bedpans about two years ago, and everywhere on line I went I was being shown bedpans to buy. So that could be part of how Momorerack advertising is showing up. The other way pages of advertising shows up in e-mails is the "phone home" for pictures command plugged into e-mails. The e-mail doesn't show that there are any attachments, and the e-mail size is very small, but when the e-mail is opened, it is filled with images. What has happened is that underneath the e-mail in the HTML there are commands that say, "go to this company and get this picture and put it here", and same thing over and over until finished. And that would be how Momorerack gets so much "stuff" into an e-mail with no attachment. It "phoned home" to get the pictures when the e-mail was opened. Might be that cleaning out the internet temp files and cookies will help. But lots of cookies are beneficial. You can use CCleaner to select the cookies you want to keep when you use to clean up your computer, and then it will delete the rest. You can get rid of it on Facebook. When you are at the place where you see their entry, in the upper right corner of their line (do not know how to say this any better :-) ) is a little box with a down arrow. Click on it and check the Unfollow --- or the Hide all from whatever the name is there. There are settings on your privacy that you can use, as well. Hope this helps somewhat.
