    1. Re: [GN] Gmail deletes your own post to Rootsweb -- need a fix?
    2. TO ALL GMAIL USERS: Here is the link and fix I created that shows how to fix Gmail so that Gmail does not delete your distributed posts out of Rootsweb. (Gmail thinks it is spam because it appears your own sender address was spoofed.) http://www.minco-ok.com/temporary12/gen-newbie/ Before I found that fix on another site, I was getting paranoid thinking that the list admin was deleting all of my gmail posts. 2. Woody, I have begun to see that now. AOL has been having more advertisements than ever before lately and I think this is just one of them. It has been moving back and forth from folder to folder whichever I am currently using. I said in my previous email that I doubted that AOL's big page announcing my email had been would ever be a page of Nomorerack advertising. Well, guess what the AOL advertisement was on my big "your mail has been sent" page when I sent the e-mail below. Nomorerack!! However, I think that Nomorerack is paying AOL to place it there, and is not the result of malware, as the advertising is rotated by AOL. AOL has found a way to increase advertising revenue by cramming more advertising in areas not used or devised before. What you are seeing is a big AOL page that now pops up every time you send an e-mail to anyone. That full page merely says your e-mail has been sent, and just below that it provides a block that says "close" that you click on to close the page. Then the rest of the large page is crammed with advertising that rotates advertisers periodically for maximum income to AOL. 2. Woody, You are entirely correct. I can see this now. The advertising in this way is always nomorerack but I have noticed so much advertising on AOL now that I have to be careful that my mouse doesn't linger on it and bring up the advertisement full page. But Firefox has a Add-on to stop ads on FaceBook. 3. Hi Janet, Thunderbird is a free email program that I have used for years. It is free of advertisements. I use rr as well but I like Thunderbird best. I use folders also. I can't say if there is a limit on the number of emails that can be placed in a folder. But you can Google Thunderbird and find out about the program and what it will and will not do. You are more patient than I am - I wouldn't put up with what you are going with AOL. If Woody is correct then Nomoerack is not the villain but AOL is. Once again Good Luck! 2. Les, Something new is now happening for me. Everytime I send mail now, up comes the same full advertising page of nomorerack on my screen as AOL is reporting to me that my mail has been sent. They are real leeches. 2. Les, Thanks for this information. I just checked my Site Permissions and I have given no one permission to use my site. 2. Les, On AOL, click on Options at the right hand corner at top of page, select Mail settings, the on the left hand side of the page is Spam Settings, click on it. Then a pages comes up where you can list email addresses you don't want to received. And you also have a choice whether to show them or just have them deleted without you reading them. I just dump mine into delete and never look at them. 3. Janet, why don't take Tom's advise and use another program? I use Thunderbird as well and never never see a word of advertisement. What is there about AOL that you has you in it's hold? 3. If you use Thunderbird or any other standalone e-mail client, you are limited ONLY by the available space on your hard drive. This will eliminate any storage problems you may have and the e-mails are as safe as anything else on the hard drive. You will also be surprised how much faster you can access and read your mail by not having to use webmail like AOL. You can also work off line, reading and composing your mail, and sending it when you sign on to your account. I am also on rr and am in the process of moving everything over to AOL because of the space limitations that rr has. AOL has never failed me in the past many years that I have had it. AOL does not have a hold over me, I use it because I chose do and it works well for my needs. I have no idea what Thunder bird, could you tell me what the advantages of changing to Thunderbird would be. Do you use it? 2. Yvoone, I didn't receive an invitation from Nomorack, just read the email from Nomorerack supposedly from Suzanne that some creep or Nomorerack used her email to send to everyone. I did not click on the address in the email if this is the address you are referring to. I will find another way. Thanks for your help. Sorry Suzanne that some creep has invaded your privacy. When I see things like this in an email I have made it a policy to never never click on any link. The link informing you that you can opt out by clicking on it is scary on it's own. Good luck Janet - I certainly hope you can conquer this mess. 3. Janet, Are you going to have to change your pass word and email address to get rid of this blight? Is there not a way to get this stopped through AOL? I am just curious, as it seems to be a much deeper problem than just spam. Is there anyone else on the list having this problem? Les, would like your full thoughts on what you think might be going on. Thanks, Yvonne On 2/23/2014 11:35 AM, wstjs@aol.com wrote: > Les, > > Something new is now happening for me.
