    3. I had tried all of the claimed fixes to the IE 11 "can't play video" problem, and nothing worked. One included the "add on enabled" suggestion. When I found many people saying that MS's many recommended fixes didn't work either, I felt a lot better, gave up, and just used Chrome to run all of my videos. 3. I use windows live mail, but I never used it through windows live. I just downloaded ,configure it to go to ATT and get my mail. It give me an option to add another account( currently have 4 accounts), and have it set to save a copy on the server. It works almost exactly like winmail and OE of xp days, without the security hassles of OE, I had AOL for dman near 10 yrs as it was all I could get out here. When DSL became available I found and open source program that I used to import all my old aol emails and accounts and converted them to oe. Had over 600GB of mail and attachements. Spent a bunch atime getting rid of a lot of useless drivel and attachements ads and gif( remember them haha) burned everything to a dbl layer blue ray and recovered the drive space. every once -n-awhile I go look through it and wonder why I kept some of the stuff.. I guess I just don't understand why people don't use the win live mail app as it is a free download and is so similar to OE and Outlook.. If nomorerack is as bad as people suggest, then they probably don't allow closing accounts. I can say one thing for certain, nomorerack only allow a single instance of an email address to be registered, and your current email address is definitely registered there. 1. Re: [GN] Nomoerack
    2. Woody, I am in genealogy have been for over 30 years and AOL has been dependable in that respect. I have 3 pages on sites that I am connected to and it would be a hugh job to change all of them. Someone just contacted me this week asking for help as she is stuck in our line and found my AOL address and my name where it had been left years ago. I was able to help her and am still helping her because I have a very large database on this line with all the proper sources. She had picked up a lot of information that was incorrect on the internet and I could get help her. This has happened before where have been able to help people who could find me because I have used AOL for so many years. I also have rr but have found that they can't handle the amount of information I need to store of there but AOL can. As far as I am concerned this business with nomoreracks is just a minor inconvenience for me and now that I understand it, it is ok with me. I am going to get in touch with AOL to see if they can stop it as they have been very helpful with problems in the past. Thanks for all the help you have given me and the others. Right now nomoreracks is no longer in my folders, just disappeared but may be back. It doesn't stop me from doing my work. 3. Thanks, George. Yes, I should have added that any site that has passwords, such as Netflix, Pandora, Family Tree DNA, any subscription site, etc, should have its cookie saved (placed on the "keep" side) in CCleaner. ADDENDUM: Web sites use cookies to recognize your computer and open quickly with stored passwords. If one places a check in "cookies" without going into "Options" and placing desired cookies on the "keep" side, then CCleaner deletes all cookies and one has to start over with filling out passwords. (That's when I decided it was time to learn more about CCleaner and cookies). The "Cookies to delete" are deleted when you run "Cleaner". All web sites have changed their cookie format to a new standard over the last year or two so that it is complex and difficult to recognize or interpret the "new format" cookies. 3. If you are having problems with video on IE9 ,10 or 11. you probable have a problem with adobe flash or adobe flash player. Even if you do have those installed they may nnot be enabled in IE. Use the tool, that looks like a gear to manage add ons to IE and check to see if they are enabled or present. The bug is definitely not in the update, but is a caused by adobe not being up to date. cheers George & the sixpack -----Original Message----- From: BogusWoody@aol.com Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2014 2:19 PM To: gen-newbie@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GN] IE Quits Working My IE 11 works for everything but videos. AOL has found a way to increase advertising revenue by cramming more advertising in areas not used or devised before. What you are seeing is a big AOL page that now pops up every time you send an e-mail to anyone. That full page merely says your e-mail has been sent, and just below that it provides a block that says "close" that you click on to close the page. Then the rest of the large page is crammed with advertising that rotates advertisers periodically for maximum income to AOL. All of that advertising is put there by AOL, and all AOL users just have to live with it. Not only do you see that AOL advertising every time you send an e-mail, but even when you open an empty folder, such as the spam and deleted folders. For AOL, it takes a whole large page of advertising just to say "this folder is empty". > And I don't think that any of the advertising you see is Nomorerack's, as AOL rotates the advertising to show different advertisers. 3. As clunky and non-standard as AOL is, AOL keeps e-mails both on the web and on one's computer. So if one is away from home or on another computer, one can access one's mail on the web. If at home on the "main" computer and using the downloaded AOL program, one can be off line and still access mail stored on the computer and compose mail. One can have up to 1,000 e-mails stored on line per folder, but I'm exceeding that now by a dozen or so but don't want to push my luck. 2. Yvonne, I do a lot of work on my computer and AOL has folders that can hold more records than any other programs that I have tried. I am also on rr and am in the process of moving everything over to AOL because of the space limitations that rr has. AOL has never failed me in the past many years that I have had it. AOL does not have a hold over me, I use it because I chose do and it works well for my needs. I have no idea what Thunder bird, could you tell me what the advantages of changing to Thunderbird would be. Do you use it? 3. Some information for Aol users. To check for third party access... AOL Account Settings > Look for the “Manage My Site Permissions” link.

    3. When nomorerack take control of a persons mailbox, they immediately collect all contacts and store them in their database. *Their small print actually says they can do this.* Later, when they have been removed from third part access, they still have the contact list. The main thing is to make sure they cannot send anything from ones own mailbox.
