    3. I am using Chrome right now, but I was using Firefox. Try this -- open Firefox - at the toolbar at the top of the screen, Tools Options Network Connection Settings Mine is set to use system proxy settings. If yours is not, you can try the auto detect proxy settings for this network If you know the configurations, you can try the manual proxy configuration. Let us know and if it does not work and you do not know the configuration used for IE, I can tell you what I use and MAYBE where to find yours. Joy ------------------------------ I can't help you with Firefox - not technically savvy enough. But, I just read an article yesterday and again today that stated Microsoft is not going to fix IE. I do use Firefox and am perfectly happy with it. Remember I might be wrong about IE being fixed! 1. [GN] Internet problem in list #96 April 9th
    2. Joyce
    3. Hi all - I've been without computer due to not being able to download my Thunderbird email from Rogers.com I too had to pay Mozilla's on-line paid techi's to work thru Rogers settings and they were able to get hundreds of emails that Rogers still had on-line. I was not able to retrieve any of my old draft messages. I was lucky that I kept the old computer and have downloaded many of my drafts copies and local folder contents. Another thing that I was unable to download were my address lists. So just a learning experience that I should be more efficient in copying and saving old files and keeping the old computers as our data is probably still on them unless we arrange to specially delete all contents. cheers Joyce C

    2. Paula Hinkel
    3. Are you attending the "Family History and DNA: Genetic Genealogy in 2014" conference in Burbank in June? If so, time is running out to save $$ with the early-bird discount. Register by April 30th for a substantial savings. Both the DNA event and the Southern California Genealogy Jamboree (June 6-8) both feature a track of sessions specifically for Irish research. Jamboree is produced by the Southern California Genealogical Society. FOR INFORMATION: http://www.scgsgenealogy.com/Jamboree/2014/DNAday.htm TO REGISTER ONLINE: http://www.scgsgenealogy.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=71 The "Family History and DNA: Genetic Genealogy in 2014" conference will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Hotel in Burbank, California. The event is co-sponsored by the Southern California Genealogical Society and ISOGG (International Society of Genetic Genealogy). Last year's conference - the first independent DNA conference -- was a huge success, and this year promises to be another outstanding event. Discounts are also available this year for those who attend both the DNA and Jamboree events, and for SCGS members. Here's a brief reminder of the outstanding speakers and activities planned for this year's DNA conference: Dr. Maurice Gleeson, Irish DNA expert, will open the conference with "How DNA Will Change the Face of Irish Genealogy." He will give several other presentations throughout Thursday and at Jamboree as well. We know that those with Irish descent will find Dr. Gleeson's presentations of great interest. ISOGG leadership is well represented among the faculty. Katherine Borges, CeCe Moore, Blaine Bettinger, Tim Janzen, MD; Kathy Johnston, MD; Bonny Cook, and Alice Fairhurst will all be making one or more presentations on Thursday. Blaine, CeCe and others will also be speaking at Jamboree. In addition, the DNA conference will feature G. Russell, JD, CG, CGL (The Legal Genealogist), Steve Morse, PhD, and Diahan Southard, Genetic Genealogy Consultant. Featured at the luncheon will be a panel discussion, "Peering Into the Future of Genetic Genealogy," moderated by Blaine Bettinger. Members of the panel include representatives of the major DNA testing companies, Joanna Mountain, PhD, of 23andMe; Bennett Greenspan of Family Tree DNA, and a representative of AncestryDNA. Diahan Southard will also participate in the panel discussion. Luncheon tickets will be available through May 24, 2014. Classes will be available for individuals with novice / beginner, intermediate and advanced levels of DNA experience and genealogy knowledge. Personal and small-group assistance will be available on Friday morning, June 6th, as part of the Jamboree Genealogy World event. Kathy Johnston and Bonny Cook are lining up hosts for the round table discussions. Complete information on the table topics will be available soon. Don't miss out on this outstanding conference! It's the only DNA-specific event that is held in conjunction with a major genealogy conference, so you can immerse yourself in a full weekend of DNA and genealogy. 1. [GN] question about accounts on computer
    2. RickandRana
    3. That subject line is not very clear! We set up three accounts on our computer per some Win7 instructions sent to us. We _thought_: 1st account is us; 2nd account for adult children; 3rd account for guests who might need internet. Using the 2nd account set for adult children, to our horror and their acute embarrassment, it was discovered that all of our personal data were available to our adult children: onedrive, dropbox, etc. Question: can having the 2nd account for adult children be adjusted in any way to exclude their access to our personal info? How? Hope problem is clearly stated. We are slightly above the skill level of surfing, email, but need simple step-by-step directions, please? TIA Rick Powell Win7, 64 bit, Office 2010
