    3. Joy Depends on what you want to do. I have an android tablet, and phone, and I can put "The Master Genealogist" on it via GedStar Pro. HOWEVER, it is "read only." You cannot add/change information and then have it sync with your "home" program. But, it's great for taking with me when I don't want to haul the laptop. Just have to remember to do the data entry when I get back home. 3. Hey after a lot of searching I may have found the answer for you Wanda. With a Firefox window open click on "tools" in the menu bar, then select options in the drop down menu. Click on the advanced icon then click on the "network" tab. The "connection" box is the first thing on the top of the page that shows up and you need to click on the "settings" button in that box. Another window opens and the top item is "no proxy" and if you click in the circle next to it that should correct your problem unless AT&T requires a proxy setting and that you would have to call them for but as you can see there is provision for setting a proxy on the page. Click on OK and see what happens. Any changes you make will only affect Firefox and not IE should they get a fix quickly. ** On 01/05/2014 3:34 PM, Jim Hope wrote: > I am confused here as I cannot find any place in Firefox to configure a > proxy server. 3. If I continue to have problems might just delete Firefox and wait for the FIX. -----Original Message----- From: juanita Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2014 2:35 PM To: gen-newbie@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GN] Firefox problems connecting Microsoft announced today they are fixing IE, including fix for XP even though they quit updating it a couple of weeks ago. juanita > > I can't help you with Firefox - not technically savvy enough. 3. When I attempted to repair or check the Internet connection, got a popup to check the proxy server connections and the configuration was given. Which I did, and the server connections are the same as what I was given. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Hope Sent: Thursday, May 01, 2014 2:34 PM To: gen-newbie@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GN] Firefox problems connecting I am confused here as I cannot find any place in Firefox to configure a proxy server. I can only find this in Thunderbird. I am waiting for an answer to this question as well strictly for my own knowledge as it is a new one to me. 3. Contact A T & T if that's your internet provider. I had similar problems with Thunderbird for my e-mail after I got my new computer and started using Windows 8.1. I contacted my ISP and got it solved without much problem at all. Hope this helps. 3. In view of the security problem with IE, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox. Now I am receiving the following message: Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections. Is this something I can correct or must I call AT&T? I hate to change any configuration as I like IE and will go back to that when the security problem is corrected. Thanks for help. Wanda
