Hello, and thanks in advance. I'm searching for marraige information on my parents, and I wonder if my father's former employer would be willing to disclose whatever might be in his records? My father was a branch office manager who traveled around Illinois and Indiana; would it be worth it to ask the company for a list of their offices back then and go County by County in search of a record? I have already checked records in the 2 Counties where I knew each of lived at one point with no luck. Judy
Thanks, George. I will try all this. Unfortunately I have to take my disabled husband to the doctor today, and that will tie up a few hours ... the getting ready, the going, the waiting in the waiting room, the actual appointment, the coming home and the getting settled. And all the meals. And perhaps the shower. Aaaaargh! If I can find some time after that after lunch and before making dinner I will set myself to doing it. Otherwise it may be tomorrow. I really do thank you! Emsisoft (A Squared) have an "Emergency kit" for use from a USB stick for such unhappy occasions. http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/eek/ I have the other problem, mine just plain died. PC Clinic said uneconomical to repair, so, temporarily, until I make up my mind what to get as a replacement using a very old, very slow (256K RAM) but still working laptop. -- RichSpen (\__/) (='.'=) (")_(")

I thought it worked pretty well, Nancy. I used Alexandria VA because that's where I live and it came up with good information for someone who didn't know. If you want ground coverage, with the pictures of homes and buildings, be sure to 'grab' the little yellow man to the left of the display and put it on the map. I did not find a way to change the address of the road that showed up when I did that, but I will work with it and see what happens. Hello Michael Neither America nor Canada kept their outbound ships passenger lists. That is why you are having trouble finding one from NY to England. However there are some England inbound lists available on Ancestry from1878-1960 It includes passengers on ships FROM Canada and USA TO England. Board of Trade’s passenger lists of ships arriving in the United Kingdom from foreign ports outside of Europe and the Mediterranean from 1878-1888 and 1890-1960. You should also check National Archives UK to see if they have any inbound passenger lists. For help using National Archives UK see http://www.olivetreegenealogy.blogspot.com/ and choose the topic NATIONAL ARCHIVES UNITED KINGDOM from the right side nav bar. You might also find reference to passengers in local newspapers. There is project to list outbound Ships Passenger lists<http://www.thegenealogyspot.com/ShipsLists-Online/outbound/index.shtml>from the actual ship papers given to passengers which you may want to check at http://www.thegenealogyspot.com/ShipsLists-Online/outbound/index.shtml Lorine On Thu, Oct 27, 2011 at 5:04 PM, Michael<micalar@btinternet.com> wrote: > > > I would like some help in regard to passengers leaving New York bound > > for England > > I have tried various sites but cannot find any straightforward list that > > details when someone > > left New York for England > > > -- ----- Lorine McGinnis Schulze Olive Tree Genealogy http://www.olivetreegenealogy.com olivetreegenealogy@gmail.com

Hi Phil, After you open Ancestry, go to the tree tab and "manage tree" will be next to the tree name, but all you can do is export the tree. You have to put the gedcom into a software program to make reports. I use FamilyTree Maker software.
