    3. I have a question. But first let me explain why I am asking it. When I search websites such as familysearch.org, I like to copy any interesting results to a spreadsheet file for review later. Unfortunately, the search results on familysearch.org are not presented in a format that is easily copied into a spreadsheet. So, I have decided to write a small application that will convert the familysearch.org search results into a spreadsheet file. It will read the 'expanded' result directly, without having to open the preview, and with only 1 or 2 clicks of the mouse. If I write this app just for myself, I won't bother to make it user friendly. So, my question is this... Would anyone else be interested in this (free) application? Les Hardy

    3. I read the FTM instruction for merging, and the merge options are much the same as other gen apps. The the 'duplicate name merge' is just one of the options. Choose the option to merge a file, and you will be able to 'Include all individuals' from the file. Whatever you do, it is most important, as Joy said 'backup you files first' Take a look here... http://ancestry.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ancestry.cfg/php/enduser/popup_adp.php?p_faqid=4377&p_created=1226092981 On 28/12/11 01:49, Linda wrote: > There is a merge in FMT. 3. http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/broomstick_lace.php I did a search on Broomstick Lace free patterns and several turned up. The one above seemed to be a good one. If you do not find it there, then search again and try some of the other sites. I made an afghan of different colored stripes years ago that turned out very nice. If they do not have a lap robe, you could just use the afghan pattern and make it smaller. 3. Linda -- I am not an expert on merging databases, or on genealogy programs, but would you be up to trying RootsMagic Essentials - the free portion of RootsMagic? I checked the site and it says it has merge capabilities. You might want to check it out and see: http://www.rootsmagic.com/Essentials/ I started out with two or three databases and found that I had to update them all when I updated one. So, I merged mine together using the full RM program, which is the one I use. There are a couple of different merges. IF you do this, be sure to keep backups of your FMT files. Then, I think, but am not sure, that RM will just import your files. You will need to import both your files, then merge them. If they do not import, then you will need to make GEDCOM files and import them to RM. I would read the info on the RM site to make sure this is what you want to do, but I am sure happier with only one database. Good luck, whatever you decide. Hope that now, everyone is over the Xmas highs....what did you do special this year? Anything that your going to remember or regret? I spent my Christmas day, being a caregiver to a Cancer patient. Her name is Terri, and she is a partical remmision stage of Lukemia. She has to be away from all her family and friends but me...Dr. orders. As a Cancer survivor myself this past year, I still keep away from public events and such like crowds. Terri's chemo is so strong that she can't taste anything, isn't interested in food or drink, and the list goes on. So she thought no Christmas for her, So I gathered together some ho-ho gifts and jokes and spent the day feeding them to her, then we played cards (different games of) for 3 hours...I took her a wee slice of Cocanut Cream pie, boy did that disappear..made a u -urn at the bottom, but least it went down for a bit!. Today she is tired, but had a good time....we both feel good about christmas, and I told her, after chemo, her family can have a 2nd tree for her...she has 2 more chemo's to do , so hopefully by March, she will be in the clear...keep your fingers crossed...The Medical profession has come a long way towards stopping cancer's spread, but there is a lot of research remaining to be done...donate to the American Cancer Society often, not just breast cancer- but to Cancer studies that help all of us. ~ Linda ~ Willow Creek,CA.
