    3. You are very welcome!  I've tried a lot of driver update programs and this one seems to very the easiest, doesn't put you through a lot of steps.   My computer is doing some weird stuff too but I'm in the middle of uploading my largest tree with a huge media file.  It's been processing for five days now.  I called Ancestry to check the actual progress and they told me that while it's taking a long time it IS progressing, and to leave it finish.   Once it does and I'm able to back it up I plan to split it into two trees, and then maybe two more so it doesn't take so long to update.    I love this group; always someone has an answer, or at least a suggestion.   Keep us informed! 3. Good tip Cathy,, It is a great little app, but you do have to pay attention to details when it comes to downloading and installing it to make sure you don't get a few extra toolbars or other stuff you don't want. Also it will nag you to buy it. Given those little tidbits it is very useful in identifying outdated or sometimes missing drivers,,,saves a ton of time. I use it on just about every system that comes in. 3. Yvonne: Crashes have many causes, but I usually look to make sure all the latest drivers are installed. Next on my list would be to test the memory. Memory issues can be tested by doing the following Open Memory Diagnostics Tool by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Memory, and then click Diagnose your computer's memory problems. If it ask for and administrator password just click on it again and it should accept your request. Run it and see if it reports any memory problems,,if so take it back and tell them to hire some qualified techs as you have defective memory,,,most memory has a lifetime warranty,,, you don't mention any error codes.. If you are getting any they would help in figuring out what your problem is. Personally if I had purchased a system from them than took it back because of problems and they told me malware bytes was the problem, I would tell them were not qualified enough to work on a computer... It also bothers me that you say you found both nortons and McCaffee on the system. Nortons is very good, but expensive and if you have the pockets for it when time comes to renew I would reccomned it if costs are not a concern. However both of those programs can leave traces that can have affects on other system hardware and programs. Not familiar with this SIlent Sentry pat of Nortons but I imagine it watches for changes in OS files and attempts to block those changes from happening..Either way I'll have to check it out and make sure it is removed through the normal uninstall routine. Lastly you can use computer management to see what errors have occurred in the win OS. It will give us a clue as to what happened and than we can figure out why. click start, right click computer,in the menu select manage, in the application window that cones up select event viewer, than look for errors that relate to your problem ( system hangs etc,,,)check the error codes for the item by clicking on the event you are looking at.. Maybe the easiest thing would be to just take the system back to the original install, and than work through getting it set up how you want it. I can arrange some time to connect to your system remotely and help you,,let me know.. end of basic error finding for windows hehe.. I feel like I am living a constant nightmare with this new Gateway Computer. I'm sure many of you know the feeling. In December I purchased a Gateway at Office Max which was a floor model. It was the only Windows 7 left in the area. Stupid on my part. So, I will take the blame concerning the purchase. This computer is a Windows 7 Premium Processor Intel R Core (TM) i3-2120 CPU @ 3.306Hz 64bit Operating System with 6.0GB (5.89GB Usable) Now to my problem. The mouse and keyboard keep hanging. I have used three keyboards and 4 mouses to no avail. I can hardly type an email or any document or even search a site without several hangups before I am finished. I took the computer to the Office Max store and all they could find was that I had download Malware - but the malware they were talking about was my Malwarebytes program. Then they blamed my Secunia which I run manually not automatically. So, no help there and I lost my confidence in them. I have removed all the "extra stuff" that came with the computer and discovered last night that I still had Norton and McAfee installed - so I downloaded the uninstall tool for both and uninstalled. Still no relief. I also discovered Symantic Sym Silent which I thought had been removed but am not so sure. George are you out there? I would appreciate any and every suggestion before I traipse back to the store again today. Oh and by the way I purchased their Protection Plan which does not seem to cover my problem - interesting huh? Sorry for the long email but I am beside myself and just don't know what to do. 3. Hi George, Just got your email. So I will follow directions and see what happens. I will do as Cathy suggests and download the tool to check on the drivers and then on to your directions. Will be checking in. By the way the store was very willing to send my computer away and it would only cost me 129.00 to do so. For that reason alone I think there is something wrong with the computer itself. I will be back. My thanks to all of you. You such wonderful people. 3. While I don’t have any advice for you, just sympathy, I will say that those extra $$$ plans you think are going to be so helpful (and usually aren’t) often apply to the hardware and not the software. At least this has been my experience with the Geek Squad at Best Buy! I would like to say that Wayne Jones in Hawaii suggested SpyHunter as a good removal tool for unwanted search engines that come packaged with other stuff, and all kinds of spy stuff) and he is right. Have to pay for it, but it does a good job. (And my nephew does a good job as well.) Connie George are you out there? 3. Wow. I didn't know that about Savannah and St. Patrick's Day Parades, I just might try to talk a son into visiting one March 17th. None of us are Irish though <smile> but we love the fun surrounding the day. 3. I often make a "traditional" BubbleNSqueak but this recipe caught my eye and wet my tastebuds. Everyone have a great St. Patrick's Day tomorrow. I gather a lot of parades were today and a lot of people were COLD! Elaine For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong. --H. L. 3. Joy, Windows Live Mail is what I am using. Not that I like it, but it seems the best of what's offered. Loved Windows Mail and the old Outlook Express. Why do they keep changing!! Thanks for trying. I tried to set Thunderbird as my default email program in Internet Explorer 9, which is what I have and so far, no luck. Guess I am no help, so my only advice is to do as others said, copy and paste the link into an email.
