    3. Slim Driver only updates your computer drivers - it has nothing to do with drafts in your email. I keep a notebook, dated, and list all changes I make to my computer so I can backtrack if needed.  I also set a restore point when I add or delete a program. Try looking in your email trash - perhaps you'll find your drafts there (I'm not sure if they go there or are just deleted).   Cathy Champion     Fenton, MO 63026 (near St. Louis)   Make yourself familiar with the angels and behold them frequently in spirit; for without being seen, they are present with you.   - St. Francis De Sales ________________________________ From: jeanne <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Fri, March 22, 2013 8:02:45 AM Subject: [GN] slim driver I also downloaded Slim driver and in the end found all my Drafts gone. 3. Okay, that explains it. I recommend uninstalling the entire business and then downloading and again installing SlimDriver. I ended up with an AVG browser page which is okay, I use AVG, but some will possible be startled by it. I saw it and didn't remove it because I wanted to see what it was. I use four startup pages on Chrome, now I have five <laughter>. Elaine If the police arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent? Now to get use to trying to look at this site is going to be challenging to me. 3. We were warned about other software wanting to download when downloading Slimdriver and it appears that you must have clicked on the Fixcleaner which was a pop-up while the download was in progress and it had a prominent button to download now. It could be confusing as it appeared that one needed to click the button to get the Slimdriver but it was not necessary. It is a sneaky way to get you to use another program. I saw it and ignored it when I downloaded Slimdriver, but had I been a little sleepy I may well have downloaded it too. 3. Joyce Ann - Go to https://familysearch.org/ and look for the button for "Family Tree" - that will bring you to the family tree. If it is the first time you are using it - you might have to register to access it (free site). Give that a try and see if it is what you are asking for. 3. One of the best features of Gen-Newbie is that it is a community willing to share information and knowledge. I missed any previous conversation about SlimDrivers but installed the free version this evening and ran it. I had six updates for major items on this one year old laptop. I went for them, it took longer than I expected (which made me think the paid pro version might be real nice) and I think after a restart that my graphics may look better. Could be a placebo effect, but I am happy to hear about SlimDrivers and thank you, too, Cathy. This is no longer a talkative group like we once were. I think we are more serious, perhaps younger, more acquainted with computers than our previous generations here on Gen-Newbie. But we still share and help and that makes me happy. 3. To My Friends, Yes, I must echo what Elaine has said - well personally I can't qualify as "younger and more acquainted with computers." However, even as I age I am still "so" fascinated with these wonderful machines. From the bottom of my heart I thank all of you for all of your help and willingness to answer the call for help. George, I have spent the day attempting to understand the event log - whew. I can't by any stretch of the imagination say whether I found anything or not. I felt like I was reading a foreign language. Yep, this computer still is hanging but not quite as much as it was and seems to recover a bit quicker after I updated 17 drivers. I wonder how long this machine was on on the Floor at Office Max. I bet it's a couple of years old - dumb me well not dumb, but I was desperate to find a Windows 7. Well, I found one. About the only thing I haven't tried is to try a new browser, a new email program and remove AVG and go back to ME for my virus program. Oh, and as George says "take the system back to the original install." I am about ready to take you up on that offer. And yes, I miss the chatter we used to enjoy so much. Once again thank you, thank you, thank you.
