    3. It sounds like you have ended up with two AV programs on your computer. I haven't used Ad-Aware in years but it definitely sounds like they are doing an AV program now. I wouldn't advise running both programs. And I suspect MSE may be better. MSE scans all downloads to the computer, to me that would include mail. I think all AV programs scan attachments to email. Remember that you also can use Windows Defender as a background protector, I ran it with my free AV programs. Now I have a suite through Webroot which makes me smile since they started out somewhat like Ad-Aware and now are up with the big guys selling full AV suites. Many of the free programs we saw are now paid programs and the programmers have become businessmen <smile>. Elaine Hello Joy On Wednesday, March 27, 2013, you wrote > Thanks, Elaine. 3. Thanks, Elaine. I did Google and did not find any one with the same problems. I would GUESS it is the Yahoo toolbar and I cannot change to options that I want anymore. However, I did uninstall AVG and downloaded and installed MSE. I have a question or two -- MSE is an anti-virus and anti malware program, according to what I read. I do not see any place where it check incoming emails. Does it do this? Also, last week, I downloaded and installed the newest FREE version of Ad-Aware and it is now called Ad-Aware Anti-Virus. This is what the User guide says:/ ------ Ad-Aware Antivirus/ is a security solution that allows you to combat stealthy online threats and the latest advancements by cyber criminals. /Ad-Aware Antivirus/ protects you from malware that secretly takes control of your computer, resulting in aggressive advertising pop-ups, sluggish computer activity and even identity theft through stolen private information. /Ad-Aware Antivirus/ allows you to root out hazardous content on your system, clearly identify the threat level, and gives you the ability to remove or block harmful applications and processes, so that your private information remains right where it should -- under your control. With /Ad-Aware Antivirus/, you can keep an eye on your credit file activity and monitor a potential fraud. /Ad-Aware Antivirus/ provides complete malware protection against viruses, spyware, trojans, rootkits, blended malware, hijackers, keyloggers, and other potential cyber threats, giving you the power to protect your online security and privacy -- so that you can use the Internet how, when, and where you want. ----- But, it does not provide email protection, unless you buy the PRO version. Does anyone know if I can run both on the same PC? So far, no problems, but I do not want to do anything that would cause problems and I also want something that provides email protection. I'm getting too old, too soon, I think. Ha.... Thanks..........Joy On 3/26/2013 12:38 PM, ETM wrote: > Do a bit of goggling, Joy. 3. I use Remove, a paid program, for most of my uninstall desperation needs, probably use CCleaner for 99% of uninstallations. BTW, speaking of iObit, I hated the aggressive nature of its malware options. I uninstalled that very quickly. Try it, you might like it, but to get all options I think you have to spend money. 3. I downloaded AdvancedSystemCare and was careful to not download the add-ons. However, an icon called Uninstaller also appeared on the desktop. Is that part of ASC or is that an add-on I missed? As I mentioned, I used the free version for some time, had obtained that via the giveaway site. I thought about it for about six months, then paid for the pro version. I am happy that I did. I also backed down from Webroot Secure Anywhere AV which was a giveaway when I bought my laptop a year ago. I liked it very much, but was worried I was going to end up paying for it twice since Best Buy seemed to have it on follow up and intended to auto-renew it for me. I didn't trust that they would and so I removed Webroot last week and installed MSE. MSE runs very smoothly on almost all computers so anyone after a free AV program should try them first. Always one's own judgment along WITH a good AV program is the best protection. I long ago learned not to be curious about sites that are sent to me by strangers. Such mail is immediately deleted. Anyway, today I removed MSE and again installed Webroot because they may have the fastest tech response I have come across recently. I am pretty sure it is a US response and that also made me happy. The older I get the more inclined I am to buy the programs I like because the bells and whistles usually mean smoother updates (they do it) and scans to determine compatibility. I like that. Now I need to look into adding Webroot to my iPhone and iPad and maybe anything else it will work with. Remember that CCleaner will generally wipe out those leftovers. AdvancedSystemCare also has an uninstall feature under Toolbox. Elaine Happiness is good health and a bad memory. --
