Books that only list sources at the end of a chapter, or worse the whole book, are pretty useless. Even the style used in /History of Parliament/, where each paragraph ends with a list of sources, is painful to use. It needs to be readily apparent which source or sources a particular fact derives from, and clearly citing every fact is a good way of checking that you really do have adequate sources for everything you claim.
