Hermann of Reichenau explicitly stated that Gisela was married to her brother's successor (her second husband, Ernest of Babenberg), under the year 1012 ("Herimannus quoque iunior dux Alemanniae defunctus, Ernustum, sororis suae Giselae maritum, successorem accepit").
