I need to find a will of a John Hewett (etc) of Lancashire who died after 1613. Earwarker was referring to the Dr John who d. in 1658. It is based on an inscription on a portrait at Lyme Hall, not a tomb inscription. It also says he married Lady Mary Bertie. I have no idead when the inscription was written on the portrait. Re-reading Earwaker showed me the Essex inscription that I had missed, but again it's secondary so not conclusive.
