Or have I missed another reference? Thanks for taking an interest. At the moment my favourite theory is that he was born in Eccles, son of John and grandson of Thomas who was later Sir Thomas of Shireoaks. I need to find a will of a John Hewett (etc) of Lancashire who died after 1613.
