He was son of pre-conquest Earl Siward ('Siwardus') by AElfflead ('Elfleda'), daughter of Ealdred ('Aldredus'), son of Ealdorman Uhtred ('Uitred') son of an earlier Waltheof ('Waldeophus') who held sway in Bamburgh in the 990s. This earlier Waltheof is the man I was talking about. taf
