It's a good drill, and I'm one of those guys who likes a keyed chuck. The variable speed is quite responsive to finger control, and the additional handle can be set in various ways the user prefers. There is plenty of power for the tasks I generally need. Manufacturing quality, fit and finish are high -- just what I've come to expect from Bosch. This drill is far superior than the DeWalt I also own, although to be fair, the DeWalt is significantly lighter in weight, but not variable speed. However, as has been said, it doesn't come with a case, which I ordinarily would complain about except it does not have any easy way (like a built in loop or hole) to hang it on a simple wall hook hanger. Also there is not a "lock-on/lock-off" button that would allow you to leave the power on and "safe" the tool. The only other "nit" I have, is that the chuck holder (built into the cord) doe! s a good job of holding the cord, but I would have preferred a chuck on a lanyard so I didn't have to stop and pull the chuck out of the cord and put it back in. I bought this with a few basic requirements in mind: 1. I didn't want cordless because I didn't want to deal with batteries, and I'm using it in my home woodworking shop where I have plenty of outlets handy. 2. I wanted something relatively lightweight and small. 3. I didn't want to spend a lot of money. 4. I didn't want a keyless chuck - they might be convenient, but I can never get them tight enough. I've had very good luck with Bosch tools, which is why I went with this particular unit. It did not disappoint. No frills, lots of torque, variable speed, and the chuck holds much better than any keyless chuck I've ever used. I only have two minor gripes: 1. I wish it came with a case. For the money, I don't think it's really fair to expect one, either. 2. The noise level is a little bit high - it's kind of shrill and hard on the ears. I have to wear earplugs while using it. Overall, I highly recommend this drill. I like it enough that I will buy a second one w! hen the budget permits.
