Hello group, I represent Scottish Archive eBooks, a small company located in Scotlands Western Isles which specializes in re-publishing books which are no longer in copyright in .pdf format on CD-ROM. We have two existing titles in our range which may be of interest to family historians and genealogists, namely the "History of the Macleods" and the "History of the Mathesons", both by Alexander Mackenzie. And recently we have released a CD-ROM containing all six volumes of the "Visitation of Ireland" by Joseph Jackson Howard and Frederick Arthur Crisp. These rare volumes were limited to 250 copies of each, and in keeping with the spirit of the original edition, we are limiting our digital edition to 250 copies. If you'd like to get your hands on copy number one, its currently up for grabs on eBay! SKETCHES OF NORTH CAROLINA, HISTORICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL, ILLUSTRATIVE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF A PORTION OF HER EARLY SETTLERS. BY REV. WILLIAM HENRY FOOTE. 1846 This 559 page piece of history of the Presbyterian Church and this area of NC was written in 1846 at the request of the Presbytery of North Carolina and in 1912 was republished. In 1961 the Synod of North Carolina started the North Carolina Presbyterian Historical Society and they set out to "correct" the "errors" of this book and republished it in 1965. (DMK Heritage, Editors personal opinion: As a genealogist I personally think the NCPHS were just "nit picking" with the over-all intention of discrediting this work. Mr. Foote states several times that this is not meant to be a history that is why he calls it "Sketches". Some of the individual stories I am sure are not what these two organizations would like as part of their history. However, being a genealogist and having read local histories for the last 35 years, I think the attitudes, and incidents are very realistic and believable, regardless of the "misspelled" words. I think this is an important book for all Scotch-Irish Presbyterian descendents.) This is one of the most quoted books on Rev. War history; events being told by the sons of the soldiers who fought. Highly recommend. My vacuum needs the O model, this works just great. Microfilter seems to work well, way cheaper than the Sears brand! Bought these for the Kenmore canister vacuum and boy are they worth it!! Before, I was using the generic brand and even the Kenmore brand (the most expensive). I found these Filtrete to be a better quality bag...tougher material. I have air purifiers in two rooms...normally have to clean them after I vacuum...due to micro dust, etc, exposed back into the air from the vacuum, but I have found that after using these vacuum bags, there is less need to do so. Worth their weight in gold. >From the air your vacuum pulls through the bag, Filtrete Micro Allergen vacuum bags capture 94% of particles larger than 1 micron in size, including dust mite debris, grass and ragweed pollen. Price:$292.02 Image: http://thediscountguru.info/image.php?id=B000HZJMFM Best deal: http://thediscountguru.info/index.php?id=B000HZJMFM I have been using this compressor mostly to install trim. Since I lost my truck last year I decide to go with smaller tools and this compressor was the solution. I have even shot some framing nails with it. I bought this compressor because it is one of the smallest available, yet it is well made for professional use. This is all you need if you don't have permanent air use like in a home workshop. Since it is so small you can easily carry it around to the point of use. I use this compressor for example to keep my car tires in spec. It is so much of a hassle to do that at the gas station (and I am anyway always in a hurry at the gas station). You just charge the compressor tank, unplug the cord and carry the compressor to the tires. The one gallon tank is easily big enough for all tires of my 2 cars (incl. spares). The compressor is very well sealed, I tested that the pressure of initially 140psi does not drop below 125psi in two days. Bought this compressor for permanent mounting on my RV. It is very light and very quiet compared to my larger garage compressor. Make no mistake, this is not a powerhouse and if you need large volumes get a larger compressor. My only concern is that after only running for about one hour of total time (including break-in per mfr instructions), I find it is taking longer and longer to fill the 1 gallon tank before shutting down at the preset pressure level. This could be an indication that cylinder / piston is already wearing. There are no air leaks that I can hear. Other than that concern, it seems to be well designed and built. This compressors is small compared to other compressors, and for basic use it is a must. It is very quiet and his a built in quick connect switch is cool for those who like to switch out tools. The regulator is decent but takes some getting use to. All in all it is a great basic use compressor. One side note, the compressor comes in a box with no real packing foam to cushion it so inspect it other than that its a great buy. Well, this unit had a leak in one of the fitting. I took it to the local dewalt repair place, in a couple days they had it ready and worked great. I have had it for some time and its worth the cash spent. I used it to nail my baseboards. It did kick of all lot but I only needed to nail a few at a time so it fit the job. Whether you're testing out plumbing lines or making quick work of construction projects with a pneumatic nailer, this DeWalt D55140 Heavy-Duty Trim Compressor offers dependable performance for improved job-site efficiency. Featuring a 1-gallon tank and 2.6 Amp motor that delivers .75 SCFM at 90 PSI up to a maximum of 135 PSI, high-surge performance, and quick recovery, this compressor is surprisingly quiet at just 69 dBA. Also offering fast, easy start-up, so you can get to work quickly, a high-flow regulator, and reduced breaker tripping, so you can complete work smoothly, this heavy-duty tool is equipped with a universal quick-connect point, so you can trust that it will be easy to set up with your favorite pneumatic tools. You can count on the durability of this unit with exclusive DeWalt details like an oil-free, long-life pump, which ensures smooth, maintenance-free operation that never results in oil spilled on sensitive work surfaces, and a ball drain valve that makes! tank draining quick and easy. Cast-iron construction, a thoughtful roll-cage design, and a wrap-around control panel protect important compressor components from being damaged while you work. And at just 24 pounds and nine inches wide with a convenient cord wrap, this compact unit is easy to carry and store. This compressor is backed by a full 1-year warranty. Price:$54.95 Image: http://specialdealfinder.info/image.php?id=B000KICCTO Best deal: http://specialdealfinder.info/index.php?id=B000KICCTO I bought this set for my lathe two years ago. They have a comfortable feel to them and fit very well in my hands. They hold a good edge and are very durable. I've introduced a couple people to wood turning and have recommended this exact set. I would buy them again. I have been using these chisels for about 3 weeks now and a couple of them are already falling apart. The tools have become loose in the handles, and the pins that hold the brass rings around the top of the handles have broken off so the brass pieces fall off constantly. These chisels would probably be fine for turning spindles from softer, nearly round materials, but they will not hold up when used for turning square stock to round, especially if you are turning hard woods like oak and hickory. The only positive thing I have to say about these tools is that since they are high speed steel, they do hold an edge well. In conclusion, I would not order these chisels again, under any circumstances. Price:$5.99 Image: http://ultradiscountfinder.info/image.php?id=B000186H9O Best deal: http://ultradiscountfinder.info/index.php?id=B000186H9O Lufkin makes an excellent "L525 1-Inch x 25 Hi-Viz Orange Power Return Economy" tape measure. The many uses for this tape measure make it a steal for the current price. It has a myriad of uses. For example, I can't tell you how many times I have used this tape measure in order to make sure that a painting in my home will hang straight on the wall. I have also used it to measure whether or not furniture could fit in certain places in my home and I sometimes use it to see if furniture is lined up evenly against a wall. One other way to use this tape measure is to extend the tape six or seven feet if you want to determine what length drapes or window blinds you may need--this helps a lot for any size measurement up to 25 feet. In addition, if you need this tape measure when you're "on the go," there is a belt clip on the reverse side of the red plastic container. The tape measure is remarkably easy to use. Just pull on the tab (or, the "lip" extending just a bit from the red ! container) and although you feel some resistance to pulling out the tape measure ignore it and pull as much as you need to. Then, if you need to, lock the tape measure into a single stationary length by pushing downward on the large black tab on the side if the red plastic container. Once you have finished taking your measurements you can slide the tape measure back into itself again by simply pushing the same large black tab upwards--but be prepared, the tape measure snaps back onto the red container mighty fast! Don't let your hands or fingers get in the way of the tape when you release the black tab. Overall, this tape measure by Lufkin is reliable and very well made. The tape measure itself is very easy to read; although obviously if you need to measure a distance of more than 25 feet you're going to have to look for another tape measure. All in all, this is a great deal for the price as of the time I am writing this; and if you need this type of tape measure Lufkin's! brand will not disappoint you. We switched to this tape as the standard for our production line strictly because of the consistancy and accuracy between tapes. Price:$250.00 Image: http://ultradiscountfinder.info/image.php?id=B00004SUOJ Best deal: http://ultradiscountfinder.info/index.php?id=B00004SUOJ I used this extensively for drilling holes and setting screws in studs this weekend on a project. It's a good drill, and I'm one of those guys who likes a keyed chuck. The variable speed is quite responsive to finger control, and the additional handle can be set in various ways the user prefers. There is plenty of power for the tasks I generally need. Manufacturing quality, fit and finish are high -- just what I've come to expect from Bosch. This drill is far superior than the DeWalt I also own, although to be fair, the DeWalt is significantly lighter in weight, but not variable speed. However, as has been said, it doesn't come with a case, which I ordinarily would complain about except it does not have any easy way (like a built in loop or hole) to hang it on a simple wall hook hanger. Also there is not a "lock-on/lock-off" button that would allow you to leave the power on and "safe" the tool. The only other "nit" I have, is that the chuck holder (built into the cord) doe! s a good job of holding the cord, but I would have preferred a chuck on a lanyard so I didn't have to stop and pull the chuck out of the cord and put it back in. I bought this with a few basic requirements in mind: 1. I didn't want cordless because I didn't want to deal with batteries, and I'm using it in my home woodworking shop where I have plenty of outlets handy. 2. I wanted something relatively lightweight and small. 3. I didn't want to spend a lot of money. 4. I didn't want a keyless chuck - they might be convenient, but I can never get them tight enough. I've had very good luck with Bosch tools, which is why I went with this particular unit. It did not disappoint. No frills, lots of torque, variable speed, and the chuck holds much better than any keyless chuck I've ever used. I only have two minor gripes: 1. I wish it came with a case. For the money, I don't think it's really fair to expect one, either. 2. The noise level is a little bit high - it's kind of shrill and hard on the ears. I have to wear earplugs while using it. Overall, I highly recommend this drill. I like it enough that I will buy a second one w! hen the budget permits.
