Martines has worked as a schoolteacher and a funeral director.(THIS WAS TO GET RID OF BODIES FOR THE FAMILY Di Familia) Prosecutors also called him a sexual predator. In January, he pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault and promoting child abuse. Prosecutors said that on April 15 and April 17, 1999, Martines used his "X-Files" and comic book collection to lure a 12-year-old boy into his McCully apartment for sex. "I'd like to apologize to this court, your honor, the prosecutor, my attorney, my family and friends," Martines told the court. "I take full responsibility and blame no one." Prosecutors said that to this day, Martines' victim is suffering and that Martines is the worst type of sexual predator, a repeat offender who targets children. Martines admitted that young boys are his preferred sexual partners, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors said that Martines molested two boys in the early 1980s and was sentenced to probation. Police also investigated another incident involving Martines in 1989. Circuit Judge Rey Graulty told Martines that he should be sent to prison for the rest of his life. However, because the judge was bound by the conditions of the plea agreement, Graulty handed down the 10-year prison term.
