I am attempting to locate information for a friend who is currently visiting in Italy. His grandmother on his mothers side was Victoria Colasessano, who came from Campobasso. She met and married Michele Cologrossi in America. Michele Cologrossi was born in 1871 in the region of Abruzzo, Italy. He arrived in America when he was 18 or 21 years old. We believe both Victoria and Michele met in W. Virginia. Using another spelling of the name Colagrossi, I found that many came from San Marco Ls Catola, Campobasso. Many also were heading from Ellis Island to parts of Pennsylvania. I also found a Nicola Colasessano born in Frosolone, east of Campobasso, going to W. Virginia in 1913 to visit his brother Domenico. I believe all the arrivals and marriage took place prior to 1900. I know the information is sketchy but perhaps someone can check the US census for 1900 or 1910 for the names of Michele Cologrossi and his wife Victoria living in W.Virginia or later in Pennsylvinia. I checked the Genes site for the surname and found them to be very few to none. Mike Setaro Caserta, Italia
