    3. For 9 years I have been searching for my grandparents place of birth or anyone who might know of these names. The 2 towns that show up on 2 different certificates are Sinlao and Creve Tirennze. I realize that they couldn't speak English when they arrived and this is whit was heard. Another of my problems is ,I know when they came to America but have no idea where they came into the USA. I have 4 different spellings of my grandfathers name and 2 different spellings of my grandmother. The names for my grandfather are. Guiseppe Marino, Mereno, Demarino and DiMarino. came over from Italy in 1909 and was born in 1883.Father Francis, Frank, mother Rose My Grandmother was Armedia Papi, Papis. She came in 1912 and was born in 1896,father Joseph, mother ,Anna. The first records of them is their marriage lic. from New Butler Wisc. Feb.1913. After that , I can trace them till they passed away in Calif. My father was Clarence DeMarino and his sister, my aunt was Clemas DeMarino (Kay), both born in Wisc. I did not know any of my family but I do know all have passed away that might have been able to help me. IF anyone out there could shed a light on the region they came from, I would be eternally grateful. I was told they came from north Italy, my grandmother spoke both French and Italian and my grandfather was in the Italian Military. Thanks now for any information . 3. Dear Dee, I suppose that the right name is Cava dei Tirreni ,it's near Salerno.I have found that in Italy there are 16.694 families Marino (17 in Cava dei Tirreni), 832 Di Marino (112 in Cava) 224 De Marino (1 in Cava). The most of these families live in central-sud of Italy. There are not Papi or Papis in Cava dei Tirreni. This surname is present in a small number in Toscana and Lazio. I hope I have helped you.
