Hello, I have the World War 1 Draft Registration card for my husband's great grandfather who emigrated from Italy in approximately 1912-13 to Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA. I am trying to decipher the place of birth for my Nicola Frasco. It looks like St. Albe. Do you have ANY suggestions? I have looked over the maps and can't place it. It appears too me that he has someone writing for him on his registration card. I have been unable to find him on a ship coming to America in 1912-13, as of yet. His wife's name is Maria Sabatino Frasco. His son is Charles Frasco born in 1910 in Italy. Both Nicola and Maria were born abt. 1890. I do not know what Charles real birth name in Italy was. His social security application list him as Charles. Census records list him as Charley or Charles. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can forward the card image if needed. THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH!!!!!! Jo Dee Frasco

Do a search at Multimap at http://www.multimap.com/ . My Italy travel atlas also lists a Sant'Albano Stura. One thing to remember is that there are many ways to spell that first part of the town name. Could be Saint, San, Sankt, Sant', Santa, Santi, or Santo. Italy phone directory on the Net at http://www.infobel.com/italy has only 9 Frasco listings. You might check the associated town locations that have a proximity to any of the Albe or Alba locations. A letter to some of your distant cousins might be of some use. Good luck. Joe in Texas
Well Jo, after your email with WWI Draft Registration card, really the name town seem St. Salbo wrote, but I can say you that is SAN SALVO town (CHIETI PROVINCE/ABRUZZI REGION/ITALY), your ancestor came in USA the Apr 27, 1912, was 23 old, port of departure: Napoli, Maria wife nearest in Italy, joining Sante brother... if this my info resulting exact for you let me know. The right surname spelling is FRASCA and no FRASCO; SABATINO is right.. For all certificates you can write to San Salvo civil records office: info @ comune.sansalvo.ch.it ( no spaces please). Best regards, suanj
