Hi. I am trying to find more information on an ancestor. His name was Carlo Carbone (translated later to spanish - Carlos Carbone - in Panama were I was born). According to his marrigae certificate from a local church - november 27, 1889, he was from Genova, Italia and was 28 years old at that time. His parents where (spanish translated again in the certificate) Juan Bautista Carbone and Catalina Extracerra. My guess would be that his father was Giambattista or Giovanni Battista, anyway I dont know what name was of common usage a that time. In the case of his mother Catalina, I would like to know if Catalina is Italian as well or should it have been Caterina. Her surname makes me wonder. It does not sound italian, I even checked the web and labos.net and no result is returned when I type Extracerra. How hard could it be to find more information about him? Does anybody know the reason(s) for italians to leave behind their relatives and their lives back to head to america? Makes me wonder, why Panama. At that time we were part of whta used to be The Great Colombia. We became a country in 1903. Any help will be deeply appreciated.
