Although my family originates from Belgium, I have learned via telephone books that the name Fasol is also relatively frequent in the Veneto region and in the Verona region. Since the name Fasol does not 'sound' like an originally Dutch name, it is possible that my ancestors emigrated from Italy. The geographical distance however makes it impossible to come and do research in Italy. Can anyone point me to sources available on the Internet that I can access, or does anyone know something on the origins of the Fasol family in Italy? I don't know about the situation in Belgium and the Netherlands, but have you tried looking for information in notarial archives. They should start about in 1400, giving you at least another 200 researchable years. A problem could be the fact that surnames weren't always written earlier than 1500s.
