About your relatives, the correct surname you should look for is Loiacono, Lo Iacono, Lojacono, or Lo Jacono, but not Loiacano. This surname doesn't exist in Italy, so it probably was a mispell. Also, in Corleone there are no Locurto's but there are 3 Lo Curto's. I could find a Lo Iacono, Luca on EllisIsland, who came to America in March 15, 1907, arriving from Naples. I also think your great-grandmother name was mispelt, can't find any Efflusso or Effluso here in Italy right now. Anyways, I on ellisisland.org she was from Belmonte, wasn't she ? If she was, well, you can check at a Family Center for Belmonte Mezzagno Registri dello Stato Civile, which probably contains her birth certificate, as she was 17 in 1907. You'd probably be able to find further info about her parents and her grandparents, too, as those acts range from 1820 to 1902. obviously, you should check any family name similiar to hers. Check out which is the nearest family center for you at http://www.familysearch.org Also, try searching for the surnames on the phone directory: http://elenco.libero.it/elencotel/public/RicercaOmonimie.jsp Let me know if you do find anything. Ciao, Fabio

    3. Thank you very much for the information. I did use a web site translation program to translate the documents. They are borth and marriage certificates but the problem I was having was the handwritten part. I have access to a scanner so I can scan and email you. Do you charge any fees or would you be doing me a great favor?
