I'm sorry for my late response. > That's too bad :( > Have you tried going directly to ask the local priests ? maybe they > have more documents to look at The priest was not in the office, but a man who works at the church office or at the commune had a look in the church records. We had a quick look in the old books. He said these books were all what they had in San Biagio Saracinisco. We did not spend a lot of time in the office and were actually quite happy just to find out when Biagio died. We were told that the church records from the period he was born (1875) was destroyed in the war :-( The priest doesn't speak English, and also I feel it's a bit difficult to ask for help when I think that it may be a little hard to find the correct parents of my great grandfather Biagio Jaconelli. His italian childrens name was Aouda (not sure of the spelling), Carmine, Domenica, Antonia. Is it possible to "guess" from his children's name what Biagio's grandparent's name would be? > Ok, then, you should tell them something like: > > I'm looking for as much information as possible about parents and > close relatives (brothers and sisters) of Biagio Iaconelli (or > Jaconelli), born in 6/7.11.1875, in San Biagio Saracinisco, Frosinone, from > Antonio Iaconelli (Jaconelli) and Anna Tartaglia. Maybe, but in genealogy guessing wouldn't be the correct way to do things. My best advice is going to the nearest Family History Center and getting to see the microfilms for the comune of San Biagio Saracinisco's Civil Records. They contain births, marriages, deaths, miscellaneous documents and marriage documents from 1811 to 1865 so you should find information about the birth of Antonio and Anna, Biagio's parents. You could also check for their marriage, but this depends on where Anna was born, as the tradition have the marriage take place in the future wife's church. Anyways, people in Italy used to renew, in their sons, their old relatives' names (parents , grandparents), so Biagio's father MAY be called Carmine, Domenico, Antonio, but maybe not. This isn't really a secure way to get the names you need ;) Let me know, Ciao Fabio
