Hello, I'm researching the town of origin for my family line of the FERRARI and BERNI names with the focus around Parma. Giovanni FERRARI (b.1865), father Antonio and mother Lucia FERRARI. And Teresa BERNI (b.1870), father Antonio and mother Anna Maria or Maria RESTANI (b.1830-1). Brother Antonio and Louis (liquor store owners in Brooklyn). Giovanni, a furrier, was in the US by 1887, they were married in New York City, 1 Feb 1891. I have some reason to believe the town may be Bardi, or a nearby one. I was given the oral history information that the town name was Bari. However, I choose to begin with the assumption that the Bari memory had been corrupted. Since so many FERRARI and BERNIs originate from Northern Italy (not Bari), a preliminary search showed there to be a very high concentration of FERRARI/BERNI names in Bardi. Not Bari. Then there's Bore also. Does anyone know the history of a town named Bore, near Bardi in the North? I have seen it on one map and no information comes up on the Internet. How about Barge, Badi, Varsi, and other similar sounding names? I have researched the DIRENZO and DIMUCCIO names, and others from Alife in the Campania region back to 1680. I would like to achieve the same results for these FERRARI and BERNI families. Thank you. If I can be of any assistance through sharing information and my research experience in Italy and in general, please let me know. Best Regards, Tom
