    3. Sooo whats a person to do ? send money? don't send money ? I was told not to send money !!!!! so thats what I did.I do hope I hear from Italy with all the info. I gave them about my folks . I'm willing to pay for every thing incurred including the stamps. I think all that could happen is a delay. [ I hope] If I don't hear from them in 6 wks. I will send another letter & the money but HOW MUCH ??? SHOULD I SEND. any help will be appreciated. ciao

The woman at the office wanted a written request though, because of the language difficulties, and because it would be easier for them when they are trying to do the search for me. They also said it could take a while because they had so many men in that area by the same name as my great grandfather. She seemed a bit surprised when I asked if I should send any money along with my letter. So who say you have to send money to these offices? She gave me the impression that they are indeed happy to tell people abroad about their roots in their village. So I gather you don't need to worry! :-) Maria in Norway
