From the Garzanti Italian Dictionary: Sestiere [se-stiè-re] Etimology: latin sextarium = "sixth part" Antically also written 'sestario', each one of the six neighbourhoods r which divided some towns and cities. One of the most famous ones is the Sestiere of San Polo, in Venice.
