Hi, why don't you get informations at the closer Italian Consulate ? I saw on Tv that many descendants of Italians are applying for the Italian/E.C. passport in Argentina (especially after the bankrupt). I think that a visit to the Consulate should be the first step in the U.S. too (with the advantage that in the U.S. you woun't find any row at the Consulate door!)
