I presume the civil records you give are in the LDS microfilm, but if not I now know what to say in any enquiry to Rome. (I looked through RG33 in the National Archives catalogue, and it doesn't include complete records for Rome, ie not the period in which I'm interested. So it's useful to know what civil records exist. )

    2. Yes, - you can ask the "certificato storico di residenza from...(year) to.... (year) " in Roma Civil record Office.... in same office you can ask also death act of Evelyn; -and if the children was also in Roma you can ask the "certificato di famiglia storico" (by payment) or the "scheda anagrafica" of Evelyn's children.. - also you can see the microfilms in LDS center : 1.RG 33 series -- foreign registers and returns for British nationals in Florence, Leghorn, Naples, Rome, Turin and Venice, Italy, 1707-1947 Great Britain. 2.

    1. Re: CAVICHIOLO FAMILY
    2. Ciao Anne, Thanks a lot for all your compliments. I've just received an email from the Commune of Tombolo telling me their archives just start from 1871, so they couldn't provide me information about Vittorio. It should still be possible to find his birth act: 1. At Family History Centers, since they have documents starting from about first years of 1800's 2. Through the local priest of the parish of Tombolo, Mons. Arduino Beltrame. The first option is probably easier. I'll let you know if the Tombolo Town Hall replies to me with any information about Elisa. She was born in 1875, so they should have her in ther archives, if she was born there. Tonietto is quite common a surname in the province of Padova. Let's cross fingers ;) Fabio PS. Yes, I'm Italian ;)

    2. hi, i really really appreciate your help!!! You gave me hope, my dad is now 60 years old, and he is looking foward to meet his relatives at least for the last 40 year, but so far we got no where!!! I have some information that could be really helpuful, in case you could ask then about him. here is the info Vittorio Cavicchiolo, was born in march/29/1865, we belive to be in tombolo, that's what our relative told us, he got married in italy to Elisa Tonietto (born on november/30/1875).we have his death certificate, but it does not show where were they born,In the death certificate shows also that they had a child named Silvio in 1899, wich we dont know where he was born. we think he lelfted Italy around 1896 or 1897, he came with Eliza and also brought with him his brothers Luiz and Feliciano. We dont know the ship's name or the porto he came, could be in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, or even other , we don't know. We also have information about that some churchs have records of kids, and that is where we belive he is regestred... i really really appreciate your help you are like a angel!! are you in italy? thanks you gave us hope

    3. Hi Anne, I think I can help you a little. Your great-grandfather's correct Italian name was Vittorio Cavicchiolo, and the correct name for his birth-town is Tombolo (homepage here: http://www.comune.tombolo.pd.it/ ), a town in the province of Padova, in the region Veneto. As of today, there are 27 Cavicchiolo's on the phone directory in Tombolo. You can find their names and addresses here: <http://makeashorterlink.com/?D60A24A9C> The email address for the civil archive at the local town hall is: <anagrafe@comune.tombolo.pd.it>. If you want to, I may try asking them for a search for Vittorio's birthact. Hopefully, we'll get an answer :) Also, at your nearest Family History Center, you can search films containing: "Civil registration of births, banns, marriages, and deaths from Tombolo, Padova, Italy. Some registers include an index. Text in Italian. Some years may be missing or out of order.". You can find a list of all the family history centers in the world here: <http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp> Hope it helped, Fabio In article <1139378967.417833.43710@o13g2000cwo.googlegroups.com>, annecavichiolo@gmail.com says... > HI! 1. Death of Cameriere d'Onore of His Holiness Leo XIII, 1889

    3. The death of a distant English cousin of my great-grandfather was reported in The Times, Wednesday, Apr 24, 1889: On the 17th April, at 38 Via Gregoriana, Rome [....] EVELYN VARDON, M.D., Cameriere d'Onore of His Holiness Leo XIII [...] aged 41. R.I.P. Is there any way I can find out how long he had been in Rome? I am also wondering whether his fourth child WINIFRED VARDON was born there. She would have been born after 1881. It is not impossible that his daughters Marie and Winifred died in Rome, as I have not (yet) found trace of them as adults.
