I just got tired of one guy continuously using this forum to promote his own, personal site. NO ONE else does this, just this one guy. Too bad someone can't state a simple opinion without having several others foaming at the mouth to stir up a hornet's nest. You guys and gals who can't stand to hear an opinion different than your own go ahead and stir the pot, I'm done with this tiopc. Frank F.
Frank that is unfortunate that you feel the way you do. However you have ultimate control do not read my responses. Also please note that I have no advertising on my website and I pay for it myself. It's only with the advent of other gateways to news groups like Rootsweb that using an actual address has become necessary, since they mail the messages to "subscribers". These news groups are the number one place where junk emailers harvest addresses to flood with their garbage. Take a long hard look at some of the "names" and "addresses" here and you'll start to get the big picture. I openly fake my address, all anyone has to do is look at it to know that. None of this precludes me from saying publicly that Steve ought to be able to answer a request for help, once in a while, without having people have to go to his site first. I'd wager there are thousands of participants here who have sites of their own. Wouldn't it get boring if we all began our answers, "Go to my web site"? Frank F.
The best thing to do is just use the delete button for him. He is on many Rootsweb mailing lists with various names and email addresses (all bounce - no messages received by him) All he does is cause trouble. He also has a real website where he offers help for a big price and takes people on tours to Italy. When confronted with who he really is, he quickly disappears, only to return a few weeks later with a new name and a new thread of complaints. If you think back about some vicious threads of the fairly recent past and the name connected with those, you know one of the names "Frank" uses. He often signs up with more than one screen name and then battles with himself just to stir up trouble. Best to rob him of the thrill and just delete. It's been interesting to watch his pattern. He distracts the list to the point that nothing else gets accomplished. Just my take on him, Sharon
So what's the point Frank? IMO, there is nothing wrong with the manner in which Steve choses to post. I have yet to see any newsgroup charter that dictates how you are supposed to "promote" your website. His site offers a lot of links and I continually refer people there. No back to genealogy!!! You don't seem to be able to just give the address of the site that might be helpful. It's always Go to my site and see the links page. Hi Go to my family website http://www.dellarocchetta.com/ and on the Favorite Links Page there is a site that lists many areas to where you can write. However you may need to know the nearest large town if that town you are looking for is real small. Ciao Steve FRMRNYR@aol.com wrote: > does anyone know where i can write for birth records for a town called > vettica maijore, priano and sorrento, > thanks > kristina
Hi Go to my family website http://www.dellarocchetta.com/ and on the Favorite Links Page there is a site Italian & Global Surname Navigator, click on Italy and then type your lastname of interest. A lot of sites will come up on the screen and sometimes 2 error screens just say ok. Now just work backwards through the screens the last screen may have some data. Everyname that you see that is underlined has more data in the background just click on them. Ciao Steve and Ginny Della Rocchetta from Sunnyvale CA.
