It is imperative that you contact the Italian Embassy having jurisdiction over you and find out the current requirements. Use this map to find the embassy near you if you reside in the States, then telephone or visit them: http://www.italconsdetroit.org/statelocator/statelocator.htm Last year someone who recently received his dual-citizenship contacted me. He reported that the online links explaining the process are outdated. If the hyper map above doesn't help you, look through the other Italian Embassy links listed on the page below. Some of them, like the Italian Embassy in Wash DC, have an online page describing the process. 3. You may want to join the Basilicata list on YahooGroups - some knowledgeable people there. I'm currently reading a book about Tito in Potenza Province [in Italian, very slow going for me] that briefly mentions WWII and the various war memorials in the different towns. I'm also transcribing all the civil records for Tito, from 1809-1910, which will take me a very long time, but I've come across some Nigro records in the 1809-1815 film. 3. Hi Emma Have you attempted to get death certificates for these people all states have that service. The cost if you know the month and year about 5$ If you do not know a 10 year search cost about 25$. They in most cases contain there place of birth and the name of their parents and sometimes the cause of death. I was in Phildelphia and went to a local cemetary and the records where great an surprising. I found things like family plots etc. Also some people in those plots I did not know were even in the US and some turned out to be cousins. Go to my family website http://www.dellarocchetta.com/ and on the Favorite Links Page there is a site called Italian & Global Surname Navigator I think it would be worth your time to visit it. It contain data from most of the free world countries. Type in your country of interest and the lastname of interest and search. Many sites will appear along with 2 error messages just click on ok. Now work backwards through each site we hope this helps you. Ciao Steve and Ginny Della Rocchetta "Emma L.
