    2. That's murphy's law of genealogy, for evry easy line there is an eaqual and opposite harder one...lol, I have the same problem, so I chip away at the hard ones, one baby step at a time... and organize the easy ones. Joni Josaun@webtv.net http://wtv-zone.com/picks/texandy/charter.html

    2. The word, in italian, for birth is nascita and death is morte, so my guess is that it is not Italian, but one of the other languages derived from Latin. I thought it may have been in Latin, but they are not the correct words either, just simular. Joni Josaun@webtv.net http://wtv-zone.com/picks/texandy/charter.html

Just type in the surname, nothing else and then go down and click on to search. Joni Josaun@webtv.net http://wtv-zone.com/picks/texandy/charter.html

    1. Patronyme enfant abandonn en Italie
    2. Franois LIBRINI

    3. Good Morning I tried Vito Leogrande at the Ancestry site and came up with only one person. He was age 26 and living at Fair Haven Village, Rutland, Vermont. I also checked my Italians to America 1880-1893 and no one by that surname shows up coming to Ellis Island Marie Joan Huntley Ottawa Canada ----- Original Message ----- From: <josaun@webtv.net> To: <GEN-ITALIAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 10, 2002 5:55 PM Subject: Re: Looking for Leogrande Vito > If your grandfather left Italy after 1880, and you know his last place > of residence there,You could also request a Certificato di stato di > famiglia (family certificate) from the Ufficio Anagrafe there. 2. Maybe Tioflac ? Try putting it in to the ellis island site and ask for simular spellings, see what they come up with, or maybe the LDS family site using the soundex. I don't believe there is a K in Italian except for recent americanized words. Joni Josaun@webtv.net http://wtv-zone.com/picks/texandy/charter.html

    2. If your grandfather left Italy after 1880, and you know his last place of residence there,You could also request a Certificato di stato di famiglia (family certificate) from the Ufficio Anagrafe there. I'm not sure when or if they stopped doing them, but they would have all the members of his family listed (if her were married) as well as records of children who have died very young , if not, then if you can get the death certificate and send for the family certificate for his father. Italy is one of the few, if only, countries that has these. You can also go to the 1920 US census for the area you believe he lived, It was the only year, I believe, that gave the year that a person immigrated as well as the year they were naturalized (if they were naturalized at all) If you do not live in the state hen your local Family history center can send for the films for you and you can use them there.
