Sestière if a one sixth of a city (like a quarter). Two cities only have "sestrièri": Firenze (but no more) and Venezia. -- Ciao. Sergio®

Judging by the little love story, your relative could have married a casanova not a Casanova. Sounds to me that only your source would know if they were using the name or the term. Frank F.

    3. I have some data about the family of the famous Casanova from Venice. Casanova was really a family (If you are looking for a meaning: Casa = house, Nova = new) but I can't say if there was a branch of the Casanova family in the south of Italy. Write to me if you found a Venetian origin. If he does not appear on the Ellis Island lists, where do you suggest can I look for immigration informations? I thank you infinitely, Antonio Leogrande

    3. Hi Fabio, Thank you for the offer of translating letters. I have just found out that my great-grandfather was Nationalized in Australia in 1902 so I have sent away for these papers they take about one month to come back, and then I should know for sure what part of Italy he came from. So I will send letters after I have this information. I also have bought myself Italian dictionary. Ciao Judy Melb Aust.
