Hi, I do genealogical searches in Italy. If you are looking for notices about your anchestors or you if you are looking for the Acts for italian citizenship, please contact me. Best regards.
I assume everything I write on the internet ends up somewhere.... if you go in with that attitude the you don't get caught with your proverbial pants down. Joni Josaun@webtv.net http://wtv-zone.com/picks/texandy/charter.html
That is amazing, I can immagine how thrilled you are, I was able to meet a cousin that our common ancestor was born in 1741, and does not even compare to your find... Joni Josaun@webtv.net http://wtv-zone.com/picks/texandy/charter.html
Hi all. I am trying to trace a long lost person / friend. His name is masimo fillicini, he would originally come from turin / torino. He studied in the UK in around / upto at least Feb / March 1978 and dissapeared from then. Fillicini is the surname but i cannot find relevent information anywhere. He had friends such as Charlotte Gill whilst here in the UK. It is apparently a wealthy family / Roman Catholic Northern Italy and he may have lived at some point in Hastings in the UK during his study time here. Regards and thanks in advance John
> On Tue, 18 Jun 2002 15:12:05 GMT, "Robi Gus" <gasdia73@yahoo.com> > wrote: > > >hi to everyone, > >i'm italian, my surname is gasdia, very uncommon in my country... > > > >i'm intersted in creating my family tree, so i would apreciate any hint or > >suggestion from you > > Ciao Roberto, > > Qualche notiziuola l'ho trovata spulciando su internet, forse tutta > roba che sai già, ma tanto vale scriverla... > > Allora: > > 1) http://www.ceciliagasdia.it/ Sito internet di una cantante lirica > di Verona, con tanto di email e numero di telefono. potresti provare a > contattarla per vedere se sa nulla delle proprie origini > > 2) http://www.badiadisettimo.it/anticabadia/tomba.htm > Gasdia sembrerebbe essere un antico nome di donna. Just wanted to let you all know yesterday I met, after more than a year of genealogical searches, with a cousin of 18th grade. We found common ancestors in San Marino Republic and Italy back in 1650. Still amazed about that :) Ciao Fabio

[snip] > to this list, is not private or limited to those subscribed Hi Sharon, The big genealogy search you refer to is by a *very* dedicated genealogist/programmer: Rob Kuijsten. He does a lot of hard work to maintain his search engines. This is his main link: http://www.kuijsten.net This is the direct link to the Italian search you found: http://www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator/italy/italy.html Here are some other helpful links of his which he programs himself: http://www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator/ http://www.kuijsten.net/usenet_search/genealogy.html news:soc.genealogy.italian is picked up by the Rootsweb gen-italian mail list from Usenet and distributed by Rootsweb to your email box because of your mail-list subscription. Everything you post is archived forever on google unless you use a no archive header. I have not seen that option on Rootsweb and have seen things on their archives, which are no longer on google. You might ask them about it if you are concerned. This topic comes up about 4 times a year when some other reader finally figures it out so you might want to read some past postings, etc. Google has about 20 years stored because they bought out the old Deja News Archives. You can Search & Read this newsgroup, via your web-browser, here: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&group=soc.genealogy.italian or the long way = http://groups.google.com/ Go to the soc. listings: http://groups.google.com/groups?group=soc&hl=en click on soc.genealogy.* (20 groups) soc.genealogy.italian http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&group=soc.genealogy.italian Have fun, Paula Marie Nigro http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwisdom/index.html or mirrors with no popups for those without popup disabler software: http://anzwers.org/free/italiangen/ http://www.envirocare.net/genealogy/index.html

Am I the only ignorant >one who did not know this? > >Sharon DiLuvio Your not ignorant, you just learned something new. If I may give you a little more new knowledge, this is NOT an "email list" it is a news group. News groups are extremely public. Most likely what you sayhere will be floating aroung in cyberspace for your great grandchildren to find. That's why Frank F. is not my real name and I use a phoney email address because the newsgoups are the numbner one area where junk emailers find people to add to their lists. I can get help with my genealogy questions and maybe help someone else as Frank F. , Tom Mix, Superman or anyone else. I also would be a fool to publish my real email address here as well. A few years ago everybody understood that and acted accordingly. Now days, various entities like Rootweb make it possible to "subscribe" to newsgroups and they, the newsgroups look and act like email lists, ie people get the posts as email rather than with news reader software as many of us still do. Real email lists have some of the same problems. For example if their messeges are archived, and plenty of them are, and the public has acess to the archived messages...well you get the picture. Try the Comunes of Italy email list. No Archives. You can post some of the names your researching, but no one gets your email address. If there are any inquiries about your names, your given the person's name and contact them if you want to.There are a few people from the Comunes of Italy (COI) who hang out here from time to time, but lots more experienced researchers on the list itself. Go here to subscribe: http://www.comunesofitaly.org/index.htm If you insist on continuing here, you need a "nickname" and at least need to "doctor" your email address as you may have noticed others doing here so the automatic address harvesters the junk mailers use will be fooled. Look at some of the posts here and notice things like: fredspam@abc.com remove spam for correct address. The real address, of course, is fred@abc.com. This is so common and normal that there's even a newly coined word to describe the practice. It's called "munging" your address. Good luck. Frank F.

I am not sure I like that! The Rootsweb list, GEN-ITALIAN-L, is NOT ACTUALLY A MAILING LIST. It is a gateway to the soc.genealogy.italian Usenet newsgroup. Usenet newsgroups are public message boards. To browse through the thousands of available newsgroups go to: http://groups.google.com/ You should also be aware that Rootsweb mailing lists are NOT private. Public archives are available for their lists. To find the archive of any Rootsweb list go to: http://lists.rootsweb.com/ If this is a concern to you, you should request information about the availability of list archives from the list administrator of any mailing list to which you wish to subscribe. For a directory of mailing lists related to Italian Genealogy, go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail_country-ita.html Regina Gualco List Administrator, Northern Italy Genealogy Discussion List http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ItalyNW/ -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG
Now you did tell me something new! Maybe that is why I get all that junk mail, and I cannot tell you how many of those viruse downloads I get a day. I just delete them, and knock on wood, never got one. Well! I thought it would not "be nice" to not give your name. Silly me! I need to enter the new world, huh? Carleen (well, might as well)
Oh, I don't care, but when someone who does not do gen, reads them, they are out of context for them. I write it to all of you, and I don't know who you are. :) So makes me no mind! I suppose. Carleen
I only have 449 posts on the Google Search. This should make 450. Mike Setaro
I found that out too! My son said "Mother, I did a google search on you, and my G__, you are on there everywhere!" I did not know that lists were in the search engines. I am not sure I like that! Carleen
I just found out when I went to http://www.dellarocchetta.com/ And clicked on the Favorite Links Page and used the Italian & Global Surname Navigator, it gave me a lot of pop up pages. One of these pages was to Google. It showed every posting I made to GEN-ITALIAN-L@rootsweb.com. In other words, what you and I and everyone posts to this list, is not private or limited to those subscribed to this list. I assume then, that is true of other email lists that we all belong to. Makes you think twice before you say anything. Am I the only ignorant one who did not know this? Sharon DiLuvio
