Yep, and the incredible thing is, he's a Doctor at university of Sorbonne, in France, in Archivistica, the science regarding the system for regulating archives. One of these days, we'll probably visit together the Archivio di Stato in Forlì and look for acts concerning our common forefathers. Let's cross fingers... :) Ciao Fabio
What's worse is that many times one posts their mother's maiden name which is the main way the banks check who you are etc. What is also unnerving to is to buy something on line and see that the vendor already has your name and address.... If you post it maybe best to state your names and dates but not how they are related to you personally. I haven't thought of that in a long time because I am dealing with other countries and other centuries, but the people that are just beginning say things like "I am looking for my grandfather Joe smith lived in new York in 1922, Mother told me that they moved to Illinois in 1930..... there they have your mother's maiden name. Is this an Italian TV show and if so what is it about?
Loide Damaride Tamar I suspect that they are feminine but not sure.
I am so much in agreement with all of you about being careful not to publish names/information regarding living people BUT my point is we are unknowingly doing this about ourselves on these lists. Example: Someone relatively new to genealogy posts to a rootsweb list. Maybe the use a non-descript screenname or their own name say MaryJones@yahoo.com. They post a message that goes something like: My Grandfather Robert Jones married Mary Smith in 1902 and came through Ellis Island in 1903 and settled in New York City. Then they sign the message Mary Jones, Long Island New York, researching: Jones, Smith, Brown and Green. Haven't they done a fine job on themselves - unknowingly providing everything but their phone number and social security card via Google. vas575
I am trying to reach Jerry Trudell who has posted several messages pertaining to the surname Caciale but her email is no longer working. I believe that she and my husband have the same great-grandparents and would love to share information with her or anyone else searching this name. Thank you.

Hi Vas575, before Google bought out DejaNews you had the option to request DejaNews to cancel all of your archived posts. I do not know if Google retained that option but you might want to take a look. Vas575@aol.com wrote: > Just did a google search on myself. Hello Fellow Researchers, Forgive me but I have to give my $0.02 here. First of all, no one should be discussing or publishing any vital record of any living person whether it be in book form or online. All of you that use genealogy software should be aware that there SHOULD be an option in the program which enables you to hide information pertaining to a living person. This prevents the information from beingincluded in GEDCOM files or printouts. As far as information stated on listservers, I find no fault if my name is included as I automatcially sign each email. On many listservers, all posted messages are archived so one can search postings from day one. I have met fellow researchers because they recognize one of the surnames in my signature. Finding my name via a search engine does not upset me for I recognize all of the "hits" and they contain the information that I provided. Now if I had found my full name along with my birth date and social security number, that would have been a different issue. We all must use a little common sense when posting information on the world wide web. > > Vas575@aol.com wrote: > > > Just did a google search on myself. I must be an orphan, I typed in all of my names, my given birth name, my nickname and my last name, my name that I go by (hyphenated), my first name and my last husband's last name... only one post to one message board, have posted in tons of message boards and I am all over the internet and have my own seniors group. I certainly found out there are a lot of peope who have the same name as me though.... Joni Josaun@webtv.net http://wtv-zone.com/picks/texandy/charter.html
This is one reason I don't have anyone that is alive on my genealogy website. Joni Josaun@webtv.net http://wtv-zone.com/picks/texandy/charter.html
Just did a google search on myself. I don't like this. I can accept a seach within the realm of Rootsweb. I find seaches via Google to be rather invasive upon my privacy. As it is, I have discontinued a practice of providing my last name and surnames I am researching. Heaven help anyone who uses their full name as their screenname. vas575
Ciao Fabio, Congratulations ! Finally some hard work of searching did pay off.
