My grandfather was from Velate, (according to his military records)which I understand became a part of the comune of Varese, but when I wrote for his birth records, they were not able to locate him in their files. No luck. At least not what or where I thought it might be. Turns out, it was the parish name of the church where my grandparents had been baptized/christened, San Lorenzo di Nocciano. Saint Lawrence of Nocciano. The town was Nocciano, of course, and the church was San Lorenzo. Don't know what saint Luasio might be, but church records might be a place to start.

Hello, First, I must tell you that your french is very good, what is not the case of my English and even less my Italian! But but I nevertheless will try to thank you in English ! I understood well all that you explained, and I will take your advice. I give you some additional information, if you would have other ideas for my search. The name of my Grandfather's dad was Alexandre (alessandro ?) Salami. He was born on February 11, 1895 in Duemiglia, a commune of Cremone. He married Teresa Edwige Luccini (born on June 13, 1895 in Duemiglia) and they had 3 children : Elda Salami, born in Cremona Armando Salami, born in Cremona And Louis Egidio Salami, my grandfather, born in France. My Grandfather's dad came in France (precisely in Troyes) in 1930 and his wife in 1933. He died on July 15, 1980 in Troyes.
