    3. I was looking thru the LDS/FHC on line library catalog for Barge and Ostana and didn't see any vital records listed. Are the vital records listed with another commune? Does anyone know what parish would have been in existance circa 1770 and what would the address be? I'm trying to locate a baptism for an ancestor in this time frame. Thanks, -- Dick

    3. Fabio Parri <XXXparrif_ibbXXX@yahoo.com> skrev i news:3d69bac5.77830464@News.CIS.DFN.DE Hello! Thank you so much for answering my query :-) | Have you tried asking the San Biagio Saracinisco ? They should have | information for your ancestors. Yes, I went to the church office in Commune di San Biagio Saracinisco in July, and I had a look in the priest's records (church records). That was where I found out that Biagio Jaconelli's parents were Antonio Iaconelli and Anna Tartaglia. Unfortunately, they didn't have more records. | You should also check at the nearest Family History Center for San | Biagio Saracinisco's microfilms. They have documents from 1811 to | 1865, so you'll probably be able to find information on Biagio's | parents and probably earlier ancestors, too. Oh yes, records from 1811 to 1865 would be perfect! Where do I find a Family History Center? | Also, the State Archive (Archivio di Stato) in Caserta has the | original documents which were used to create the Family History Center | films. I found two emails for the State Archive: | | asce@archivi.beniculturali.it | and | 027@rpv.beniculturali.it | | You should write and ask them more information about those names, they | can probably help you, too. It'd be better if you write in Italian. If | you need any help with it, I'll translate your request in Italian, | just let me know :) Remember to be very specific, doing so you hinghen | your probability of them finding what you're loking for ;) Thank you so much, Fabio. Unfortunately I don't have any more information other than the parent's name and Biagio Jaconelli's date of birth- and death. Would it difficult for them to check for possible Antonio Jaconelli/Iaconelli? Antonio Iaconelli, as well as Biagio Iaconelli, has always been a very common name in San Biagio Saracinisco. But, of course, I would like to give it a try anyway. May I ask you to write a few sentences to ask the Archivio di Stato for help? Maria in Norway

Head, Age 46 | , Madaline Wife, Age 32 | Iaconelli, Antonio Father-in-Law, | Age 67 | Antoinetta Mother-in-Law, | Age 56 I don't think this is the correct Antonio. Antonio Iaconelli was a fairly common name in San Biagio Saracinisco, which, of course, makes it harder to find the right one. However, Antonio's wife or the mother of his child, was Anna Tartaglia. (Allthough Antonietta also is a common name in our family.) | Also from www.ancestry.com Message Boards: | John (Jhncas@aol.com) posted on 17 April 2000 that his great-great grandmother was Anna Domenica Tartaglia from Santa Croce di Magliano, Molise, Italy. | | Teresa Tartaglia (DECEPEDA@aol.com) posted on 8 October 2000 that she was looking for information on the Tartaglia family from Colliano, Salerno, Naples, Italy. | John's email didn't work, but Teresa's did. I hope she will answer me :-) I do think that John's great great grandmother could be the same as mine. Biagio's oldest child was Domenica Iaconelli. She could have been named after her grandmother :-) Thank you so much for helping me! Maria in Norway

    3. You must go through the Family History Library. They are world wide and have locations in every state. Go to your local FHL they are connected to most Mormon Church's. They have volunteers to help you get started. It is not necessary to be a member to use there service. I don't know about the situation in Belgium and the Netherlands, but have you tried looking for information in notarial archives. They should start about in 1400, giving you at least another 200 researchable years. A problem could be the fact that surnames weren't always written earlier than 1500s. 1. Questions about Catasti Onciari
    2. Anthony M. Falcone
    3. Dear Readers, I've transcribed the Catasti Onciari for my town of Colledimacine (Abruzzo) for 1771. I read Italian well, but I have a few questions about it's content: 1. For the men who are listed, I saw a few entries where their sons were taxed at half the regular amount, and others who were taxed at full amount. At what age are they elegible to be taxed? 2. While most men's occupation was "bracciale", which i guess means "share-cropper" or similar, I saw several men whose occupation was (as far as I could read the handwriting) "desegrito". Any clue what that could mean? 3. When two people have the same first name and the same last name, the second entry contains two last names. I speculate that it's the mother's maiden name, so as to differentiate these two individuals on paper. Can anyone confirm this? 4. How often were Catasti Onciari taken? I beleive the last one for my town was in 1805, before Napoleon took over. Thank you for your responses. Sincerely, Anthony Falcone falcone@juno.com

You can get them through the nearest Family history Center. Look for it on http://www.familysearch.org Here's what's inside the films: Title Registri dello stato civile, 1809 to 1899 Authors Galluccio (Caserta). Be the most specific as possible (don't know if this good grammar, sorry for my English...) about names and dates. The Archivio di Stato in Caserta has the more or less the same documents you can find at Family History Centers. They have: Atti dello stato civile from 1809 to 1865 which more or less contain the same things as above. Their email is: asce@archivi.beniculturali.it or 027@rpv.beniculturali.it C) You may also want to check wether the priests at Galluccio's local churches may do a search for you in their baptisms, confirmations, marriages and deaths registers. Unfortunately I don't know any of the addresses for these churches :( D) This is the list of all the D'Asti still living in Galluccio, with addresses and phone numbers. Maybe someone still remembers your ancestors or heard about them: 1. D'ASTI ENRICO 2, V. GRANDE 81045 GALLUCCIO CE Tel. 0823925561 2. D'ASTI GIOVANNI 2, V. According to this page (http://web.infinito.it/utenti/s/s.martino.sannita/Brigantaggio/Briganti/Guerra.htm)) he was killed by the army on April 14, 1868 on Monte Pizzuto.
