    3. Thanks for that note Benny. Tells me a lot about you as a person. As a matter of fact your response has given me food for thought. Will continue doing all I can that will benefit researchers. There are now 249 Passenger Lists to the Port of New Orleans, available on CD. Everyone may feel free to contact me with any lists you all may be looking for. Will do my best to response with some helpful info, and replies by a live person . Thanks, S The same records you've been squinting at for 9 years have been > available for anyone who wanted to spend the time searching out their > ancestor's records. 1. List Administrator?
    2. Is there a list administrator in the house? While I don't subscribe to a heavily monitored list, I do think it is in poor taste to 'advertise genealogical services' on this list or any other list. Some rootsweb lists expand on Administrivia to include certian guidelines. Advertising Professional Services might be a guideline to post. Having said all of this, I also don't think such advertisers should be 'flamed' on list. Just my humble opinion. Vicky

    3. Am sorry to see some are disturbed by my posts. After 9 years and many thousands of dollars in copies and microfilm , postage, not to mention the thousands of hours glaring at the film; my intention is not one to make myself independently wealthy. If any of you think that is so, please take up the banner here, and run with it. I would love to have time for my own ancestor searches. There wasn't any Italians to New Orleans when I started this 9 years ago, and still isn't many. My work was posted on the web, FREE. Anyone back there can tell you so. Until the BIG GUYS came in and started grabbing everything for their own benefit and charging YOU for the free lists, that is when I started to ask for small return for some of the cost. If the consensus on this list is that I not return here for updates, then that's ok with me. No hard feelings. I'll stop here, and shut the lists down. Ancestry and FTM would love to hear from you. Thanks for your input, no hard feelings on my part. I get Spam TOO!! -- www.eatel.net/~smbarr/ Don't miss this port!!! Italian passengers Italian Vital Records on CD available

The question as to if the product being advertised is legitimate or not has absolutely nothing to do with the definition of spam. Lord knows we get enough of this junk mail via email, do we now have to be bothered with it here as well? I read this newsgroup to see what others are doing in their search for ancestors and occasionally offer a little help to someone else if I'm able. Is it too much to ask that that experience be add free? We have several self proclaimed genealogists pestering us with their wares, now somebody else got a CD burner and has gone into the data base business. It matters not how many manifests you've found on these CDs. I've located information on many, many ancestors back 8 and 9 generations. Does that mean that I can write a book on my sources and advertise it here? I don't think so. Benny
