Maybe, but in genealogy guessing wouldn't be the correct way to do things. My best advice is going to the nearest Family History Center and getting to see the microfilms for the comune of San Biagio Saracinisco's Civil Records. They contain births, marriages, deaths, miscellaneous documents and marriage documents from 1811 to 1865 so you should find information about the birth of Antonio and Anna, Biagio's parents. You could also check for their marriage, but this depends on where Anna was born, as the tradition have the marriage take place in the future wife's church. Anyways, people in Italy used to renew, in their sons, their old relatives' names (parents , grandparents), so Biagio's father MAY be called Carmine, Domenico, Antonio, but maybe not. This isn't really a secure way to get the names you need ;) Let me know, Ciao Fabio

For security purposes I always set my browser to ask before executing scripts activex etc. and accepting cookies (there are so many script worms and viruses) and so should do everybody is concerned about security. The policy is to never accept cookies and execute scripts unless You are extremely sure of what You are doing (which is never....) If the scripts are necessary to browse correctly, once set the browser to ask for it You will be presented whit an ok button every time the page loaded starts a script, it's easy (reading the html version of the page, right click (after having refused the script of course) and select the option HTML) or after a couple of try to understand which (1st 2nd 3rd etc...) is the one You have to accept and wich is the one You have to refuse. ;o) all the best Mauro

Enough affirmative comment and the group is allowed to begin. The admonition that advertiseing or "commercials" shall not be allowed here is crystal clear: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~socgen/Italian.htm#charter The naive notion that the charter can be changed if the majority whishes so is not majority rule. What happens a week or two down the road when the majority decides allowing advertising was a mistake and wishes to change the charter again? This is not majority rule, it's anarchy. There's an order and a structure here that was created for a purpose. There are numerous newsgroups that are expressly set up for advertising, their purpose being to keep all the others from becoming like the little neighborhood free "shopper" newspapers. If the kids in Italy who have been advertising here about, "I live in Italia, and I can find you ancestors cheap" and the lady selling the disks in question and everybody else wanting to advertise here would follow the rules, seek out the newsgroups where advertising is permitted and do it there, everything would be fine. Informed participants in this newsgroup could check the other newsgroups periodically, and everybody would be happy. Benny

    3. It seems to me that if the majority of the group doesn't object to the individual in question offering her compiled lists on a CD then the majority rules. The list, newsgroup or society in general should not be controlled by one individual with a lot to say. Since it seems most of the respondents to this topic, except Benny, don't object then the will of the group should be honored, whether or not this has changed from the original intent. IMHO.
