    3. I'm not sure of it, but judging from the Tagliavias' distribution in the Palermo province, nowadays, I'd say she could have been born in the town of Palermo or Partinico. Many Tagliavia's on Ellis Island seem to have come from Sciacca, too. Take a look here, for Tagliavias on the phonebook: <http://elenco.libero.it/elencotel/public/RisultatoComuni.jsp?nome=&cognome=tagliavia&provincia=PA&prov=PALERMO>. Also, check: <http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/customsearchresults.asp?LDS=1&region=15&last_name=tagliavia&date_range=0&date_range_index=0> for some data on Tagliavia's. Try emailing the State Archive of Palermo, and give them the exact datas for your research. They should be able to help you. Here's their email: <[email protected]> Once you managed to find the towm, you'll just only have to go to the nearest family history center and take a look at their data on microfilms for the birth act. Southern Italy is very well documented. Good Luck, Fabio On Wed, 21 Jul 2004 22:39:25 -0600, "TJ" <[email protected]> wrote: >I'm looking for Luigia Tagliavia, born August 26, 1864 in Palermo. 3. From The Cork Examiner, 24 June 1865 - THE ORGAN NUISANCE.--Guiseppe Marabo, an Italian organ-grinder, was charged at the Westminster Police-office on Wednesday with unlawfully continuing to play after being ordered to remove from opposite the house of a gentleman named Koenig, at the corner of Westbourne-place, Pimlico. The complainant said that the defendant played opposite his door last evening, and refused to go away when told. The complainant said that the state of his health was not good, and the playing was a great annoyance to him. When told to go away the organ-man said "Lady," and pointed to a parlour window, where Mrs. Sinnett was. She encouraged him to play, although he did not see her do anything. She was fully aware of the annoyance it was to him. Mr. Arnold said that the police would call and tell the lady that if she encouraged an organ man to play in front of Mr. Koenig's house, after he was desired to leave, she would be liable to the same punishment as the organ man. On the next occasion the complainant had necessity to send the man away, he must also send to Mrs. Sinnett and tell her it was an annoyance. If any offence were committed after that by encouragement, he promised to deal with the lady. The defendant said he was encouraged to play by the lady, or he should not have remained. He was discharged on entering into recognizances to come up for judgement on a future day. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dennis Ahern | Ireland Newspaper Abstracts Acton, Massachusetts | http://www.IrelandOldNews.com - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    3. Ciao Igino, Found Alfredo's data on Ellis Island site. He came to US in 1920, on December 02, 23 years old, single. He was on the ship Duca degli Abruzzi, departed from Genua. From information in US Social Security Death Index, I know he was born on 16th Nov 1897 He was from Cisigliana, a hamlet of the commune of Licciana Nardi, in the province of Massa, in the Tuscany region. He was able to read/write and came to US as a labourer. His destination was Santa Cruz, in California. He had an uncle in Westville, Illinois, named Giuseppe Tognoli (no mention about an Adolfo, in Ellis Island). He had chestnut hair and grey eyes, and 2 cicatrix on eyes. His father, Igino Tognoli, lived in Tavernelle, another hamlet of the commune of Licciana Nardi. You can find information about this commune here: <http://www.lunigiana.ms.it/comuni/licciana/licc.html> In particular, you may try writing here to request a search in the Stato Civile Archive for Alfredo's and Igino's birth, marriage and death acts (in the case of Alfredo only birth). <[email protected]> Also, you should absolutely visit the nearest family history center (see http://www.familysearch.org) and consult the stato civile archives on microfilms. The contain Births, marriages, banns, deaths, and supplemental civil registry documents from Licciana Nardi, formerly known as Licciana, Massa Carrara, Italy, from 1808 to 1910. Also, ask for information about to the Archivio di Stato of Massa, too, by this email address: <[email protected]> Remember to be the most informative you can. These are the Tognoli's still living in the province of Massa Carrara, according to the Italian phone directory: <http://elenco.libero.it/elencotel/public/RisultatoComuni.jsp?nome=&cognome=tognoli&provincia=MS&prov=MASSA> You may try to contact them. They could be relatives of yours. Hope it helps, Fabio On 18 Jul 2004 12:44:42 -0700, [email protected] (frelynne) wrote: >I am looking for my Great Grandfather IGINO TOGNOLI I believe that he >may >have lived in Tedeschi Sazhi Italy. His sons name is ALFREDO TOGNOLI >who is my Grandfather.ALREDO CAME TO THE UNITED STATES IN 1920.I DO >NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IGINO TOGNOL EXCEPT THAT HE HAD A BROTHER BY >THE NAME OF ADOLPHAL TOGNOLI if anyone has any info could they please >get hold of me This is all that I know as of right now Thank you >Frederick Tognoli

I think you need to go away and do some basic research before you publish dumb statements, like the above, in a public forum. That way you'll save yourself from looking stupid. Interested parties may, for example, want to point their browser here: http://www.cyberseek.com/nabs/tassili/rockart.htm. The figures shown are clearly black, Negroid or whatever euphemism you wish to use. While this information is not suppressed, it is not talked about openly. Since it challenges the current historical paradigm. These cave paintings suggest that some time in the past i.e. 6000BCE a thriving Saharan community existed with agriculture, domesticated cattle, religion, etc. This culture, of course, pre-dates Egypt… I'll repeat the last statement: This culture pre-dates Egypt. I believe over 35,000 of these paintings are found all over the Tassili N'Ajjers Plateau. M. Q: Why do my eyes hurt? A: You've never used them before. http://www.fulcrumtv.com/blackmummy.htm

I've found this page which could interest you: <http://www.premiosofia.it/2000/073.HTM>- In there you can find this passage: "A quei tempi, quando non esistevano ancora l'acciaio o la plastica, tutte le stoviglie necessarie alla casa venivano create con argilla e sabbia impastate con acqua. Così si preparava la terracotta. Il mestiere di cretaio era molto diffuso qui in paese, come in tutta la zona del Mediterraneo (...)
