Hello everyone, I am new to this list and hope someone can help. My great grandmother was born Katrine Augustino ORTELLO about 1845 (in her eightieth year at death 21 Apr 1925). She claimed that she was born of the Italian aristocracy, but I have no proof of this. All of my information comes strictly from family stories. Katrine was born on a ship on the Irish sea (presumably travelling from Italy to Ireland) and her mother died in childbirth. On the 1881 Canadian census, she says she was born in Ireland and her ancestry is Italian. I believe her father remarried in Ireland, then died. Her stepmother remarried, moved to Canada with new husband and they raised Katrine as their own. I guess what I need to know is: is there any way to find Katrine's father and mother's immigration from Italy to Ireland? And as a result, find their names. I am obviously hampered in Italian research without a word of Italian. Any suggestions will be welcomed. Regards, Janet Bush (Ontario, Canada)
