    3. QUICK TIP <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> ============================================================ Although I was excited to receive copies of my ancestors' newspaper obituaries, I kept running into a small obstacle: I was given the newspaper date (the date the obituary was printed), but not the actual date of death. The text would read: "Sylvia Walker died Saturday afternoon at her home," or "Mrs. Bettie Warfield, age 49, died of heart failure early Tuesday morning." Since I didn't know the day of the week the newspaper printed the obituary, I was unable to extract an exact date of death; consequently, I was unable to request a copy of the certified death certificate from the Office of Vital Statistics (which could lead to further ancestral info, such as parents' names). Then I discovered a 10,000-year calendar on the Internet. I plug in the newspaper date--say, 4/14/1913, a calendar is generated on-screen, and then I can see what Tuesday date preceded the newspaper date--the actual date of death I needed! I'm sure there are other such online calendars, but this one works just great for me: http://www.calendarhome.com/tyc/ Valerie Jordan-Jones -- Grand parents Raising Grandchildren Support Group 1st Wednesday of month---7:00 P.M.
