from another list on the web... some helpful hints.. in particular for us newbies.. outstanding tips, she has much to offer! after all, sharing and friends helping friends assists in achieving our genealogical goals! if don't like--simply delete! glory bee zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz To All Who have asked for suggestions of good websites dealing with Spain genealogy,as well as on certain specific areas of interest, Most of the first set of URL's are groups of links that others have already put on the web. Most of the individual links are for more general information, some are more specific...but even if you have already been to some of these sites, my advice is to: 1. Check back occasionally because interest is growing in this area, so additions are always being made! 2. Surf to any link that looks halfway promising...some will be better than the title sounds, some will be not so good as the title sounds...! It is kind of like books --you can't judge them by their cover! 3. The surfing around process takes a lot of time, and sometimes I get "lost", so if you see something good, either bookmark or keep a log of sites to return to later or you may never find it again! A few good places to start: 1. Of course, Luis del Pino's site "Genealogía Española" at http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/4593/geneal.html 2.Hispanic Family History Research -- they have a long list of "Websites Genealogical Interest in Latin America and Southern Europe". The first URL is their welcome page and the second should take you directly to the links page... For myself I printed this list of links out to easily refer back to. http://www.hfhr.com/hispanic.htm http://www.hfhr.com/websites.html 3. Spain GenWeb -- from here you can go to Andalucia or whatever region you are interested in...unfortunately not all the provinces have been adopted yet...keep trying! http://rootsweb.com/~espwgw/index.htm http://members.aol.com/balboanet/spain/index.html 4. Rootsweb's lesson on Hispanic research: http://www.rootsweb.com/~rwguide/lesson22.htm 5. Here is a good new site for Andalucian research and general knowledge... http://www.andalucia.cc/habis/english.htm Grab a good Spanish - English dictionary and get surfing...hope you find something good. More websites to come...these should keep you busy for a little while!!! Un Saludo, Missy Burke Lake Jackson, Tx.
