I have been racking my brains to remember the name of the actor who played the part of PC 49 ; I thought that his surname was Reece but could not recall the Christian name. The comic that you are thinking about was The Eagle which I took from the first issue ; I only wish I had the early issues now , they are worth a packet to collectors ! I note that in the 80's this was successfully satirised by Viz magazine and renamed The Black Plastic Bin Liner - very droll.
