Yes, there are too many stories of people being maimed or killed by fireworks. They are illegal here . Only the city puts on displays and they are set of from an island in the harbour. I did see a wonderful fireworks display in English Bay, Vancouver. We were on the 18th floor of an apartment block, on a balcony, so it was wonderful. But I do worry about the safety aspect for the people working in the factories making the fireworks, as well as for those who buy them. There was a woman walking around Southport with hardly any face left after she had been in an explosion at the local firework factory, when many other people were killed.
